Can`t feel with the ends of my fingers so keep burning myself when cooking and today I dropped a HM quiche on the floor when getting it out of oven.....annoyed

I like SOTD I have a couple of those - they have just told me that they aren't getting the keys until sunday now ...was really hoping it would be friday. DS2 isn't getting his own way at the moment and when in that situation he has always resorted to being a hateful little b@****d - still hasn't learned it doesn't get him anywhere.
Ulypool - glad DD came to her sense

Just popping in from outside the ether - I make an effort to read most days but can't find the will or time to post. Tough times for many and my heart goes out to them all. Similarly there seems to a crop of new babies and new foster children, which is so lovely to hear about.
Things are really good in the Gers household- we are preparing for winter, enjoying the late summer and generally #treading water well#. Think that's why I don't post so often!
Work keeps me on the road for a great deal of the time - particularly lovely this week as long drives take on a an 'escape' feel cos of the weather. Drove to Wetherby this morning through thick thick thick fog, and the sun burnt it all away. Fabulous.
Am enjoying lots of home-made carrot soup (STILL doing low carbs) and it's more appropriate now that winter is heading our way.
Good vibes to everyone.0 -
Uolypool - pleased your DD has seen sense and is returning home.
My goodness it is hot - 28 degrees here:eek::eek::eek:
Ds2 and I have been practicing his cooking and he did very well. He had to prepare a meal for a fiver for 4. Easy peasy since my MSE days:T:T:T
Well time for bed as Im shattered - please let me sleep tonight xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Its a long while since I posted on here. This time last year we were living in a cottage on a farm a mile out of the village. Last winter was a nightmare, we were snowed in for almost 5 weeks with the weather giving us a window to get out just 4 times.
We had a dteadful problem with mice, despite having the mouse man in we were catching a mouse a day sometimes 2, and we actually lost 3 mouse traps!!
We decided that we had to move closer to the town, and were so lucky to find an apartment in a very quiet complex just off the High Street, in walking distance of Drs etc, Tesco and Aldi, banks and post office.
We were offered the use of a walled kitchen garden during the summer which has been a great help to our budget, I have made so much raspberry jam I do not think we will need to buy jam till this time next year.
Last year my children brought me a kenwood chef for Chrsitmas as I was having trouble with my hands and found it difficult to make cakes etc.....
This year I think they have excelled themsleves. I go to a quilting group on a Wednedsay afternoon......
When I came home yesterday there was a big, and I mean big parcel on the floor in the hall. I was so hot I did not bother to open it. Just after 9pm I had a call from DD1, had I got the parcel, yes, have you opened it, no, well Mother go and open it and let me talk to SD. OK I opened the outer wrapping and there was another box inside......inside that box was a panasonic nn-cf778sbpq combi microwave. My old combi had given up the ghost earlier this year and I had been using a mini oven instead of the big oven which uses a lot of leccy to cook a roast. Apparently DD1 had asked OH what he thought I might like for Christmas this year. He had ummed and arrhhhed not knowing what to say. The conversation went onto the veg garden and OH remarked that I was missing using the micro for blanching veg to freeze, why? he explained about the old one.
I had looked at the panny in John Lewis the other week and said I thought when I had paid off the moving loan I would save up and get one.....next thing its on its way.....DD1 had gone into JL and arranged to have it delivered to me. OH knew all about it. I knew there was something coming, he had said K was sending something, she arranged that it was delivered whilst I was out. I was gobsmacked.......having said that I was so very grateful, mind you I think I might need a degree in science to use it for everything it says it will do, but I have had a little play this afternoon and have a chocolate fudge cake in it just now.........it seems to be cooking ok...will know a bit later when it bleeps......
So - I now have carrots blanched and frozen, the little freezer I was gifted from freecycle is almost full and the one in the kitchen is going that way fast0 -
Evening all
uolypool - yay!

After work I went shopping with my old schoolfriend now work colleague cos she wanted some new clothes. She spent a fortune (but hasn't bought new clothes in years, and has just broken up with someone!), I spent £4 on a belt! I used my student discount for her so she saved 20% on everything!
I am knackered now though! I came home starving, and luckily had some YS cheesey mash in fridge so had that with spagetti hoops!
Going to crash on sofa now, been an emotional day!
Night all
