Thanks. I've learned something today by doing this. I read this section of MSE out of curiosity and never spotted the error i was making. Just as well I'm not a big eBay seller/buyer.

At least I learnt to use special delivery
It's something you learn through practice, though it helps to have someone point it out.

    Good luck :).

  • As a follow on to this. If someone has bid and you want to remove the item can you just 'end' item or will the only bidder win?

You can cancel the bid then end auction.

You have to cancel all bids and then end item.

  • Its because I've been offered a BIN. Could the bidder report me? My BIN didnt show.

Read the thread, your bIN was there and disappeared when you got the bid. Technically if you end auction early and sell 'off ebay' then yes you are in breach of ebay rules.

If you get an offer that you're happy to accept during an auction, ask them to bid,
then end the auction and 'sell to the highest bidder'.

If you get a request to sell after an auction or BIN has ended you can relist at a new agreed price.

When they've bid, end auction and 'sell to highest bidder'.

Auction ends then though at the start price.

    Sorry OP, thanks soolin

If the auction is still at the start price when the buyer requests a BIN then you'd have to end the auction and relist at a new price for them.

Then when they bid at the new price, end the auction and 'sell to highest bidder'

Or is there's time to revise the listing, revise the start price, which will incur an extra eBay fee.

You can't revise listings like that once there has been a bid - it's not fair to the other bidders.

I would just tell the person to bid and hope they get the item for less than they intended to offer. There's no law saying they have to accept an offer like this and if there are bids there will probably be more. The person offering might actually kick-start a bidding war.
