  • Hello TH

Depends on what other qualifications you have and what type of classes you want to do.

If you have an physiology and anatomy qualification you can avoid some of the other training. Otherwise there is an Exercise to Music exam you need to do. It is a case of speculating to accumulate and courses vary in price.

Some are distance learning some are weekend courses. I grant you its not the cheapest option out there as a route to earn money...HOWEVER if you enjoy exercise and would like a healthy part time job it may just suit.

    Hope that helps a bit.

MY weight hasnt gone up, i have always been fat, but have just been diagnosed with IBS, hubby thinks its a load of toss. So i need to eat healthy. Maybe its cheaper to buy fresh stuff, we spent over £50 in Tesco last night on fridge stuff and tesco healthy ready meals for work.
There's no need to spend that sort of money on ready meals - go and have a look on the Old Style board! Those meals can be replicated for a fraction of the cost by cooking fresh ingredients from scratch, and what's more they'll actually taste of FOOD and you'll know exactly what is in them. Then you are in control of the amount of fat, salt, additives and other irritants are getting into your system. And you can replicate the convenience of ready meals by cooking in large batches and freezing the leftovers in portion-sized boxes.

  • I too have been inspired by the MSE forum and have infact gone back to trying to cook healthy meals for less rather than expensive take aways. I am a very very big girl (size 26-28) and so now I am attempting to be debt, mortgage and excess weight free.

I'm lucky in that I am only a size 8-10 but I have IBS too and since I totally overhauled the way I eat I have found the symptoms have all but disappeared.

I used to eat ready meals - now I cook everything from scratch. I eat mostly organic fruit and veg & started eating fruit & wholemeal toast for breakfast everyday (I used to miss brekkie altogether!). I now drink 2 litres of water and only have tea or coffee occasionaly - these both used to irritate my IBS lots. I also find that missing the carbs out in the evening makes a massive difference, especially for the bloating etc. I save boozy nights for when I really want them rather than having a drink (or 2... or 3...) every evening this can also be very DFW friendly :T

I have now been doing this for 2 years and I would never ever go back to how things used to be. It also saves money as without doubt ready meals end up costing more than well planned and bugdeted home cooked meals. It also definitely reduced my weight... although I was never big I am now the slimmest I have been in my adult life and I eat like a horse!! :o

I know that IBS can make you miserable and I remember thinking that lots of the necessary changes sound incredibly unappealling... but I have found taking control of it all and winning the battle totally rewarding.
  • Size 8-10 for me too which I have always been. Although since quitting smoking on 29th Dec I have since put on 5lbs which now makes me the heaviest I have ever been,(which is such an acheivement for me.) so yes, DFW has made me put on weight.

We were eating out alot before I had my LB moment so i'm back to a size 10 since I'm planning the meals now. We also never thought twice about drinking wine 3-4 times a week so of course that didn't help either. I'm now back swimming aswell so i can say i'm relatively thin and hope to stay that way :T

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • Lost weight....I seen my excess lbs as money that needed liberating;) I'd over spent on food in the past but now was my chance to get that that money back - pounds not lbs;)
