I don't think it does.....I've never tried it with Malwarebytes, but some programmes don't do this automatically.
When you install it there is a tick box that says to enable the Premium version. Untick it and you will have the free version with no trial.

Its been ages since I installed it, I'm sure that the download used to be the full thing and only reverted to freeware after a trial, shame I bought the full thing on the strength of that too.

I bought an iPad Air off a girl who cleared it,but left her name on it,her clouds still there, my clouds on it as well, but updates don't work as she's still main name I'v asked her aunt twice for password she refuses to give me it, Iv been hacked so I'm worried her cloud stopping antivirus has helped the hacker.

Do a full reset and all should work fine.

I'm on my second renewal for Checkpoint ZoneAlarm, have stuck with the Pro version whilst waiting for special offers on the Extreme package.

The only real gripe with ZA is that if it finds an infection on installation, it won't tell you what it is when removing it (or at least I didn't see any text file activity to tell you what it was). Not that I'm really complaining if it caught something but good to know the name of the Trojan/virus/etc.

You can choose to keep Windows Firewall up at the same time which I prefer, but if Zonealarm goes completely out of date (which I think takes 5 days without logging on) then it will still take the Windows Firewall down with it and it won't matter that you un-ticked "Disable Windows Firewall". That's the main sticking point over and above being based in California or wherever they are in the US. As long as you know that it relies upon you logging on to your PC minimum twice to three times a week it's still worth the money and as with most big names you get three licences for the one price.

Last year I tried Norton again and it is a lot leaner but its speed was dependent upon your connection, the main Internet Security really prefers fibre, anything slower and your PC's performance is affected. Also it seemed like being a popular big name suite the hackers seemed to hit that one more often so returned to Zonealarm.

Has anyone tried the most recent update to Kaspersky? Their separate single tools for rootkits etc were great but not sure about the full suite.

You my need to take it back to her, get her to type in her password and remove it from her iCloud account.

Generally speaking iPads are not prone to malware yet so they don't need A/V. There no easy way for her to connect to your iPad and get anything from it.

A full reset on an Apple device, if its on someone else s iCloud account (as this sounds like), isn't possible. First thing it will do is ask for the password of the iCloud account its registered and won't work until you put the right password in.
  • echoing the Mcafee comment, its not well thought of these days

And Sophos is now free for home use , Windows and Mac, plus their Andriid product is also free
  • I currently have Kaspersky Internet Security which I pay for. It has a "safe money" option where you can open things like banking sites presumably with added security protection.
It expires in June, and I'm undecided about renewing because I also use Malwarebytes which often discovers things missed by Kaspersky.
Because of this I'm thinking I'll be just as well off with free AV. At the moment I'm leaning towards Avira.

If you bank with Barclays Online, Kaspersky is available free, otherwise Avira/Avast/Bitdefender free versions are fine and regularly swap positions at the top of the AV comparison site.
Malwarebytes is great as a second opinion, most AVs don't pick up all the "PUPs" especially you click on installers from certain sites e.g. Toolbar to Help you....

  • WARNING ! AVAST IS ACTUALLY MALWARE IN A STUFFED SHIRT !

Do NOT download or use AVAST if you ever want to get back into your online bank account again.

Recently I reviewed my online security. Avira had failed to pick up something it should have and so I decided to ditch it and look for something else.

Downloaded Avast. Stupidly also PAID FOR (yes I am MAD) an add-on of theirs called CLEAN UP, part of which was supposed to strengthen passwords.

BLOW ME if next morning, I was happily inputting various password bits into the online bank page when up pops Avast with a NAG SCREEN !

YES ! In the middle of me inputting my passwords I was being interrupted by some software telling me my passwords weren't strong enough and would I please change them NOW !

Er, dunno what others think but to me this is like approaching the bank counter and being accosted by some flunkey who tells me he doesn't like the cut of my jib or the colour of my tie or some such b*ll*cks, and would I please go home and change first.

    I couldn't believe it!

I uninstalled the lot sharpish and installed something else. I did my best to restrain myself as I filled in a complaint form and asked for my money back - only to get an email saying I would have to create an account first.

And you can guess what happened when I was asked to create a password for it....

SERIOUSLY - Do not go near Avast with a long-handled barge pole is my advice.

Unless you really want the equivalent of MALWARE popping up every time you use your online bank.
