As far as I am aware you can use them with any computer. I've never had any problems using them with any computer using Windows & think I've used them on a Mac also.
They just plug into a port on your computer (it will be obvious which one when you get the key) & then you copy data on & off just like with a floppy disk.
If you need any more help just send me a Personal Message (EDIT BY MARTIN: Originally an email was kindly offered, but its never good to leave a personal email on the forum, so I suggest you do it by personal message) Almost out of debt!! Must start saving!! :dance:0 -
great prices on these memory sticks, but was is the difference between a flash drive and a memory stick? any differnece.
One thing i'd like to mention, i read about a scam going on with these cheap 1-2-3gb memory sticks especially on ebay, apparently companies buy up the smallest 64 or 128mb memory sticks very cheaply, then they do something inside that makes the meory stick register as a 2gb or 4gb etc. instead of its real size, i think they call it flashing or something like that, then when u plug in your meory stick it will show up as 2gb say but one day all the data will just corrupt and it will revert back to it's original size, apparently lots of sellers have been doing this to bump up there profits, so would be interested to here form someone who has been using there memory stick for a good few months, anyone??0 -
Whats the largest size in GB can I get on a flash drive? Can I get a 10GB or 20GB?The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. :rolleyes:0

you can use them in any computer that has a free USB port. If your USB port is v2.0 then they will be significantly faster.

I've used one on a 1997 Dell Dimension P200 running Windows 98 once I'd installed the driver!0 -

As far as I know you can't get more than 2Gb, but if you want more, try a portable usb hard drive. Having got fed up with mixing up 4x1Gb sticks and never knowing what was on each one, I recently bought a 100gb portable hard drive from Savastore for around £75. It is 14cm x 8cm x 1.5cm, works brilliantly and makes life so much easier.
They currently have a selection starting from 60Gb for £54 here http://www.savastore.com/catalog/search.aspx?keyword=portable+usb+&order=price&orientation=asc&in_stock=False&b_grade=False&page=1&lower_price=0&upper_price=10000.00&slim=31010 -

Where do you go to to download the drivers on the internet? And (silly question?) but do you need to plug the pen drive in first?
I will soon be getting a new PC, and would like to transfer data from the old one (running Windows 98 first edition!). At the moment I'm just burning important stuff to CD.0 -

The largest commercially available is an 8GB flash drive (£55 from svp.co.uk), but as posted above, a portable hard drive is a great option if you dont mind the bigger size... £65 for 250GB or £95 for 400GB. These work through the USB ports again, utilising the high speed USB 2.0 interface, or you can also use them over firewire. For even faster transfers, you can purchase them with network ports in too.0 -

If you are getting a new computer, then it will most certainly come with a RJ$% port, (ETHERNET port). This is a standard network port. You can then get a crossover network cable, and transfer all your data at very high speed from your old computer to the new one. if you dont have a network port on your old computer, you can buy a card to install which will be around £5 - £10... much cheaper than loads of CDs and much much quicker!!0
