Oh I hate being outbid! Sorry to hear you lost out on those but hopefully it's one of those "meant to be" stories if your colleague is looking to get rid of his.
Taking lunches in saves me a fortune. Not just on sandwiches, but it means I can avoid shops and their other temptations.
Good luck on the NSD's. Only a week for you to payday? The end is in sight.0 -

I'm really not having a good start to the day I feel like crying and hitting something(one) at the same time.
Firstly, my tube line was down so had to walk up the hill to a different line, got there to realise I'd left my oyster AND work pass at home.
Had to shell out £8.40 for a day ticket on the tube.
No work pass means no canteen allowance so have to buy breakfast and lunch from cash.
Then I open an email from my flatmate moaning about how on saturday night she wasn't offered any money for the food she cooked even though I've cooked a million meals for that flat and never taken a penny. And how she wished she hadn't bought champagne because I had some on Friday night with work colleagues too. I'm just so fed up of it all. She used to be so easy to live with but recently I find it harder and harder to relax in the flat and Im annoyed as such petty things really wind me up becuase she makes such a huge deal out of them.
I wish I knew of a friend looking for a housemate as I don't want to live with randoms again.Santander 0% £1,529.94

Sorry you're having such a rubbish start to the day. It's got to get better.
I hope you have better luck with getting the spare text books from your colleague.Miggy

Bad day LG x Try to put it behind you and find some things that make you smile. Clearly your room mate is going through something at the moment to be getting so het up. If she wanted to split the costs of the meal at the weekend should should have been assertive & adult and discussed it with you rather than sending you an email, not the most rational and adult way to go about things! Maybe she's struggling with your new way of life? If she's used to you being extremely generous your MSE ways are probably having an impact on her lifestyle!
Put it behind you and take the higher moral ground. If she wants to talk to you then let her, be the Dehli Lama! You will be much more able to be lama like if you find some things that make you happy throughout the day.
And if all else fails tomorrow is another day & you live and learn xDF as at 30/12/16
