  • Morning gang,

Well payday tomorrow, which means today I get to post this months stats and set my goals for the coming month:

    Current Debt: £11,929.89
Debt paid off during the month: £492.92
Totals Debt paid off since 30.09.2011: £1,439.50 (11%)
Difference compared to what I paid off last month: £89.42 less because I overpaid compared to my budget last month and didn't this month :(
Amount better off including all shares, saves, debt etc since 30.09.2011: £2,426.59
    Amount in savings: £18.50
Amount in sharesave: £1,000.00 matures 01.04.2014
    Countdown to DFD: 20 months
    NSD's since last payday: 12
Number of days I spent >£10: 8 - NOT good!

Overall an OK month but not my best debt busting wise! Wish I'd at least hit £500. The £10 budget went out the window due to over spending with army boy and then the unexpected bills! But they're now I've got my savings budget I hope that won't happen again.

This month, no excuses now xmas and NY are out of the way I'm gonna hit my target to pay off £600

I’ve worked out that I have 30 days until next payday so £300 needed for £10 a day. On that basis I can afford to pay off £550 once all my usual DD’s etc have been taken off. I have looked at what I have planned this month and budgeted for £10 food shop each Wednesday (bearing in mind my freezer is still quite full) and for dinner next week and drinks the week after. I’m not going to accept any more invitations for Feb and have already cancelled tomorrow and Thursday nights drinks. On that basis I have budgeted away £140 of the £10 a day money. Meaning I should be left with £160 to play with – MORE than enough to over pay another £50.

I’m still gonna stick to the £10 a day idea but just on the day that I haven’t budgeted for any spending I won’t take the money.

I’m extra keen to have my best month this month as I looked at my spending diary last month and I did waste too much:

    Taxi £12
    Parking permits for AB £22.65
    Anti virus £24.99
    I tunes £12.40
    Taxi £26.70
    Breakfast £4.35
    Juice for mixers £5
    Champagne £10
    McDonalds £1.98
    Boots £11.19
    Lunch at Itsu £16.86

This month there’ll be none of that!

Wish I'd at least hit £500.

£492.92 is excellent especially considering you had a) Christmas and b) a visitor! I suppose £500 has the 'look' of a landmark but focus on what you've achieved... and if you've seen Freeby's thread where everything's counted in pennies, that a massive 49,292 pennies which is a serious lot of money. :T:T:T

  • Hi LondonGirl!

I've been lurking on these forums for over a year now and never commented before, but your diary has been my favourite so far! Just wanted to say a massive well done and keep it up :) You've inspired me to start living off £10 a day and i'm doing pretty well so far! We have a similar age/lifestyle so I totally get how hard it can be trying to spend less money but not feel like you're missing out socially or being a bore. I've recently moved back in with my mum and only just found myself a part time job, my social life is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment but trying to do it on a budget is hard so thankyou for all your motivating posts, i'll be following! :)

  • Thanks team! Payday reached!! Wahoo!!!

Need to update signature as I have already made some hefty transfers and cough cough........
    ......
    drum roll please.....

The balance on my Halifax Credit Card is....... A BIG FAT ZERO!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

Leaving me with the four debts to tackle....
    1. NW Card - £2,044.30 after todays transfer
    2. PO Card - £3,817.22 with £95.43 due to be transferred later this month
    3. Santander Loan £1,042.72 pre this months DD of £148.96
    4. NW Loan £4,820.34 pre this months DD of £104.79

That should add up to £11,724.58 so now its £1,724.59 to go to get below £10k

Today I have budgeted £20 for the grocery shop as I need more than just food. So going to set myself up for the month then stick to a tenner from next week.
