    Not going! :( Sorry.

I got told ages ago that I needed to go to my doctor for a liver function test. That was over a year ago and I've still not been so I'm hardly likely to go for something as small as a clogged up ear. :(

Sorry big man don't mean to be rude but if your not going to the docs can you plz stop posting about your ear on this thread.

Re name you Happy Chappy Dot Cotton.

I need help!! No really I do and hope you lovely lot can help although not T related(sorry ;) )
I have been waiting 5 weeks for sky to fit my phone TV and broadband, I've been with them 10 years.
After numerous calls, they keep telling me there is an error on their system, I got totally fed up today and told them to forget it.
At this point they said they'd set me up as a new customer, I said no thanks as I knew I'd get a better deal signing myself up as a new customer via quidco.
They told me I can't do this, as it would be on the system that I had requested sky here even if it wasn't in my name.
Why is it they can call me a new customer but I wont benefit from it ?
My DD has had no "proper" Internet for her school work, I've been unable to view my PTA agendas and minutes, I've had to buy extra data allowance on my phone and have gone well over my mobile phone mins allowance chasing them up, I also have to sign a new 12m contract and won't get my long term benefits such as the half price 6 months TV deal I had (expires jan) on top of that they want me to pay the £40 new customer fee, just because their system has an error and they've messed my account (up to date payment wise)
Do you think I have reason enough to complain to HO and if so do you think it will get me anywhere, I'm so annoyed, they continually break their promises to keep me updated too.
Sorry for the essay, need to vent ha ha !! ;)
And you lot are so wise in these matters :):)
    Do I have enough reason

Phew.... still trying to catch up with the thread from earlier!

robstersgirl, I had MAJOR problems with sky a few months back, long story short, my account was cancelled (their error) and I was left with no phone/broadband/tv. They could reinstate the TV almost immediately but could not do the same with the phone/broadband (as they have to go through BT I was told). It also meant that I lost my original phone number which I really wasn't happy about. Anyway, it took 2 MONTHS to get it up and running again and this only happened then because I sent an email directly to the Managing Director. I had a response within 24 hours and my "case" was escalated to Head Office to sort out.

May be worth a go. If you need the email address, I can PM you :)

So I have to put olive oil in my ear for two weeks? Every day or fill my ear with the stuff and seal it in with a ball of cotton wool?

    1. Go to Chemist, local, boots or Tesco Pharmacy ask the assistant where the precriptions are for a bottle of Olive Oil.It should be no bigger than the palm of your hand (you said you were a big chap)

    2. Go home warm a spoon in a cup of warm water, Have small piece of cotton wool handy, if possible ask lie on sofa and get someone (ask big Jessie if noone else available, sorry i couldn't resist) to put a small amount of Olive Oil on spoon & pour it slowly into your ear, it will tickle. Massage gently under your ear with your pointing finger & put cotton wool gently in ear to stop oil running out when you sit up.

    3. Leave cotton wool in ear for couple of hours or overnight depending on when you do it, don't leave it in for two weeks it will go mouldy, I would think once or twice a day is enough, if its not cleared up by then do number 4.

    4. If still in pain on Friday morning go to see the G.P. they will be nice to you as you know you have earache, they will just look inside it & probably give you antibiotics if its an infection or drops if its wax or suggest the oil now & again.

    5. Let us all know how you get on, its important you do go to the docs if it doesn't clear up

Done it, but all I have is an ear full of condensation.

Why would olive oil work if Otex doesn't?

    Dunno never used Otex

Otex is overpriced marketing ploy, it only works if u have a toatie wee bit wax in ur ear, don't know why olive oil is so good but it works better as prevention!! Don't put cotton wool in after either as it'll just soak the oil up defeating the purpose x

Otex is bicarbonate of soda, thats why it fizzes,
Happychappy u are my husband, bad ears, liver function test, hate of doctors!!!
Seriously, I think you may have an infection as I live with your evil twin and he has all the same trouble.....we use ordinary extra virgin olive oil as the chemist one is not super refined or anything.
We only put it in for a few days as he has his ears syringed twice a year as he makes loads of black wax, never see any of it till its syringed, though.
We found that any type of water made it worse and my gp told me to NEVER get water in my ears and my ear troubles have completely stopped.
Please consider the docs as I think u need antibiotics (or take atrip to spain and buy them over the counter for 2 euros....did that last week too).

I promise to go to bed in a minute but just wanted to say a liver function test is usually just a blood test, my Mum has to have weekly ones at the moment because they are putting her on some new medicine which may affect her liver.

Also one of my cats had several liver function tests they were always in the form of a blood test. I can tell you blood tests really don't hurt even though the words "blood test" make my nephew faint.

If you still need it have it done don't let it stop you going to the G.P. about anything else, if they bring the subject up its your chance to get them to explain things. You'll feel relieved afterwards mostly in life its the fear of the unknown which is far worse than it turns out to be.

    Goodnight all
