No, it totally didn't dawn on me, too distracted with my ear.I was going to get the bus back rather than waste petrol then I remembered that I threw the receipt away.

That'll teach me to try and eat a yoghurt in bed.
I cleaned it up as best I could but was too tired to change it, better get it done before I become too tired again.MSE- The Glitchhikers guide to the galaxy0 -

Hmmm, just don't like them, I guess it's one of those things.
When it happened I hadn't been in the shower for over a week.

It's a well known phenomenon that Men dislike/avoid the doctors, it is also a well known phenomenon that a lot of men die prematurely because of this...
I have had a couple of mates die of cancer because they left it too late to go to the docs...one was dead within two weeks of diagnosis...
so HC84, I would suggest you get your sorry azz down to the quacks sharpish!!;)"He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas" Benjamin Franklin

Today i bought the crisps B1G2free, bought one of hula hoops one of nik naks and one of skips (these ones i picked up were with 50% extra free. Anyway on getting home (a bit hard scrutinising my bill with 2 hungry babies in tow!!) Not only has the offer not kicked in the skips have scanned at 62p. Will go back after work tomorrow for dtd but thought 62p for 15 bags is well cheap anyway, if someone only needs a "few bags" lol!!
Hth someone;).
Also another to look out for, is the disney dvds B1G1free. Noticed a few of the dvd's in Osterley still had the stickers on and i think the promo ended on the 30th Oct, didn't try scanning though, my kid's just don't look after dvd's enough for me to keep buying them!:mad:0 -
lovecrafting here's my tip about saving money on your groceries, petrol etc. i wrote this on a nectar card thread back in january...many people weren't aware that you could do this; so i hope it helps you out.
i joined nectar a few years ago...initially i thought the scheme was a bit rubbish. not many points given, one point being worth half a penny etc.
but it soon added up for me and now i earn about 20,000 points a year. first of all, i'd install this: http://www.nectar.com/collect/toolbar/home.points it's a nectar toolbar and uses yahoo search, i do all my day-to-day searches using it. i earn 50 points a month everytime.
when you install that toolbar, it will also notify you when you're on any websites that take part in the nectar scheme. usually, you get 1 point per pound spent on amazon, ebay etc. however, if i want something from these website (and i don't want it in a rush), i usually wait for promotions (like triple points).
i also use my nectar card at BP and sainsbury's, that's where i'd say i get most of my points from. IMO there are some good advantages of using your card here. example: i have 2 big supermarkets close to me, a tesco and a sainsbury's; both tend to have similar prices on the items i buy. what i do, is shop at sainsbury's for a month and spend £20-30 per shop. from this nectar get an idea of how much you spend and on what type of items. then, the following month i go to tesco and do similar shops (with a similar price) and use my tesco clubcard. at the end of that month, i usually get a promo from nectar with 4 vouchers (each lasting a week) with a £4 off £20 spend or a £6 off £30 spend i.e. 20% off all shopping items. now this i find is a very good deal. so as a result, i go shopping to sains that month....
a month or so later, i get my clubcard statement from tesco and they have similar vouchers/discounts off products that i normally buy...and guess what? i go to tesco for a few weeks.
i do this cycle all the time and ALWAYS get vouchers like this from tesco and especially from nectar. nectar tend to offer me more money off coupons from my shop. sometimes, i may get a £2/£3 off a £20/£30 min spend (10% off) from nectar. you'll find that if you don't use those vouchers at all, then you'll get 20% vouchers off the next time round.in the end, these schemes do keep a tab on your shopping habits, but they also save you money.
this above example can also be substituted when going to a shell or BP near me. buy petrol at shell, and nectar/bp will send you coupons (e.g. 100 extra points when you fill up with £20...). go to bp for a month, shell will send you vouchers with your drivers club card......
anyway, i think i've babbled on long enough and i hope you've understood what i'm trying to say.
in the end, supermarkets will do anything for your custom...so use any promos/vouchers that they give to your advantage!
p.s. don't forget things like re-using bags at sainsbury's/tesco etc.
hope that helps:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Hi lovecrafting, you are certainly in the right place to help reduce your spending.
It's been a difficult year for us too as DH lost half his job and I cannot go out to work as I care for my mum but thanks to MSE and all the lovely people on here, especially this thread, we have managed really well.
My cupboards are overflowing and I have managed to reduce my spending by at least half. And of bargains to me and I cannot believe how cheap some things can be0 -
Hi lovecrafting, you are certainly in the right place to help reduce your spending.
It's been a difficult year for us too as DH lost half his job and I cannot go out to work as I care for my mum but thanks to MSE and all the lovely people on here, especially this thread, we have managed really well.
My cupboards are overflowing and I have managed to reduce my spending by at least half. And I have things in my kitchen that I never thought I would be able to afford. Also Christmas and birthdays for the next year sorted too at a fraction of the price. I have always been a bargain hunter and only came across this site when I was wondering one year when the Boots 75% off sale might be due to start. I lurked for a few months before eventually joining. It opened up a new world of bargains to me and I cannot believe how cheap some things can be bought for.
Good luck with reducing your spending. I started by stocking up on essentials whenever there was a really good offer/glitch and eventually this has left me with spare money to buy some luxury items. My rule of thumb now is to try to never pay full price for anything. This does mean maybe not buying your favourite biscuit for example one week but getting the BOGOF deal that week, or the cheapest option. My family do despair at times as they never know what I am going to come through the door with but there is usually something to make them happy like the Speckled Hen today for DH.
My daughter was home from uni for a couple of days last week and went to the freezer to get something out for dinner.
"My god mum..... there isn't anything without a yellow reduced sticker on it!"
I find that by shopping around and at the right time, I never pay full price for anything. It's either BOGOF or whoopsied. I know that the initial outlay might be more, but once you've got a good stash of all the offers, you'll be amazed at how much you save on your average weekly shopping bill. Today for instance I bought 8 packs of Walls sausages reduced to 39p, 4 pizzas reduced to 49p, 3 punnets of grapes 39p each.
I was disappointed there were no chickens reduced in the Co-op (nicest chickens apart from M&S IMO) so instead of buying 1 for £4 I bought 3 for £10 and made sure I checked the cooking times on the labels as it can differ by as much as 20 minutes. The ones I got today all took 1hr 55 minutes so are obviously much bigger chickens than the the ones that cook in an hour and a half.
I buy all our cd's or dvd's from Amazon 2nd hand... and hate paying more than a penny plus postage!
I buy all clothes in the sale, check for the cheapest insurance, telephone deals, gas and electric when they are up for renewal etc. etc.
I love a bargain and must save hundreds if not thousands a year just by shopping around.
Just one warning.....Once you start you'll become addictedMy husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0
