there not amazing no, there overpriced rubbish but they last a wile and the cheap ones are no good. to be honest today is the first time in a long time i have checked any prices, usually i wonder round the shop in sort of a..ohh yeah we need chrisps, ohh we need loo roll and just put it in the trolley. its really hit us the last few weeks what we are really spending in supermarkets and to be honest its really frightening.
omg why did i just post a huge post when one line would have done, sorry im all panicking because of spending and confused over how i can reduce it.
Hi lovecrafting, you are certainly in the right place to help reduce your spending.
It's been a difficult year for us too as DH lost half his job and I cannot go out to work as I care for my mum but thanks to MSE and all the lovely people on here, especially this thread, we have managed really well.
My cupboards are overflowing and I have managed to reduce my spending by at least half. And I have things in my kitchen that I never thought I would be able to afford. Also Christmas and birthdays for the next year sorted too at a fraction of the price. I have always been a bargain hunter and only came across this site when I was wondering one year when the Boots 75% off sale might be due to start. I lurked for a few months before eventually joining. It opened up a new world of bargains to me and I cannot believe how cheap some things can be bought for.
Good luck with reducing your spending. I started by stocking up on essentials whenever there was a really good offer/glitch and eventually this has left me with spare money to buy some luxury items. My rule of thumb now is to try to never pay full price for anything. This does mean maybe not buying your favourite biscuit for example one week but getting the BOGOF deal that week, or the cheapest option. My family do despair at times as they never know what I am going to come through the door with but there is usually something to make them happy like the Speckled Hen today for DH.0 -
caz2703 You can freeze cheese, I stock up on it when it's on offer. It goes a bit crumbly but the taste is fine (or so my OH tells me I'm allergic
)

Has anyone tried the Speckled Hen glitch? I'd love to know if it is working, but can't really spare £25 if the glitch has been fixed. Thank you in anticipation of a reply.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0

Went to D4N3ST0N3 earlier and got the Finest Cheesecake but scanned at £1.50.
And I've only just this minute realised I could have had DTD on it as the SEL does say 75p. I was distracted by my ear.
Chocolate custard scanned at 88p.
And they only had one box of custard mince pies.

You should check out the coupon thread over on the Discount Codes n Vouchers board. Loads of great coupons and money off vouchers to be had, it's a great way of saving some pennies...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

The only cheese I really like is Sainsbobs value mild cheddar and I've never seen it on offer. I treat cheese as a luxury now. I never used to even think about the price but when a massive block barely lasted a week when me, the ex, his kid and DS1 had cheese on toast, I cut back and rarely buy it now.0 -
Thank you. We will get there in the end! I have finished my Christmas shopping. I've been buying it in bits and pieces since January. I have 8 little ones to buy for and one on the way (not mine!) and I have had loads of bargains from on here.

Yep - get the 4 x £10 packs. Tried it and paid £40 (minus £7 which correctly came off - just not enough). Went to CS and said - Paid £33, should be £25, = DTD of £16. Therefore £17 for 4 packs. Fab bargain and thanks to the OP.0 -
