i've found the initial registration with first utility to be painfully slow although it's finally been completed. I started it in oct 2015 and got an email last month confirming everything had been finalised. The next meter reading will be June and gets paid at the end of August, so that means the first payment will come in 10 months after first install

I'm sure I read that I needed to send a reading on the 31st March so that my utility company (in my case EON) can correctly account for the change in FiT rates. However I've just been to the website and I can't enter a reading as the next one is not due until June. Have I got this wrong or am I missing something?

Spot on Exiled Tyke. You do need to take a reading today. You will, though, only be able to enter it online when your next quarterly reading is due in June. At this time, once logged in, you'll have two boxes. One for today's reading and one for the quarterly reading. You'll be okay if you make a note of today's reading and then enter it in June.

    Hope this helps Exiled Tyke.

Submitted over the Easter break and payment processed on Tuesday - well done EDF.

In relation to it being a small payment in March, I try to even them as much as possible:
March - submit as late as possible *
June - submit as close to 15th as possible
Sep - submit as early as possible
Dec - submit as close to 15th as possible

If you get it right, the x2 winter quarters are about (just less than) half the summer ones.

    * which also helps minimise any errors in the estimate for the April increase.

Does the FIT rate go up on 1st April each year even if the panels were first registered in August?

I thought it would not go up until the anniversary of when they were first registered.

I am not due to provide our next generation meter reading until the beginning of May, but take a reading for my own reference most days, so will have a reading for today if needed.

But if it does go up on 1st April each year, do EDF estimate the difference?

All FIT payments received so far from EDF have been very prompt after submitting the readings.

They go up each April, but the first increase is the year after install. So an install on the 31st Dec will see an increase 3 months later, but an install on the 1st Jan would have to wait 15 months.

    Mart.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

    Found this https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications-and-updates/feed-tariff-fit-tariff-table-1-april-2016-pv-only

So think it answers my question. New rates effective as from 1st April, with a 1.2% increase on previous rate.
