Rude post office staff!

  • I used to work in a shop with a PO attached, when short staffed they had to close for lunch or they never got a break at all. They are rather tied to certain times because of all the collections and deliveries that happen in the PO, and the attached shop is not allowed to take the deliveries!

At least in OP's case they did not have to wait 20 minutes then be told it was closed!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

My local post office lets me drop off parcels with a blank cheque - they weigh them and post them and give me a receipt when I go back in later on. Marvellous service.

    Lucky you! :D

Only one person working in mine, which is inside a shop. She lets me leave parcels then go back later on to pay. There are 3 different women working in there at different times/days, all lovely.... :)

I don't know how post offices can still be so horrendously inefficient. I don't know how they can stay in business taking so long just to print a few labels and stick them on a parcel.

Brilliant post sequence. Summed up in a nutshell.
    Genius.
  • Some PO staff would do well to remember that eBay parcels provide a lot of business to them!
  • Had to laugh at some of the responses here. When i'm busy at work I don't get a lunch break. If I get whatever needs doing finished then I have a break/brew etc.

I love the fact that they not only insist on their lunch break but they actually close whilst they have it. Every post office in the land still think's it is 1940 :)

The woman behind the counter in my local PO today walked away from the counter knowing l had inserted my card to pay with and she needed to press a button to enable for me to progress to input my pin...where did she go...to the back of the PO to have a nose at her ipod, so not only did l have to wait so did the queue behind me. Annoyingly l only used this PO as the one l prefer was closed half day and l had a 1st class to post and it really did remind me as to why l stopped using that PO dispite it being the nearest to me.

This is the very same PO who although are listed on ParcelForce's website as offering a ParcelForce service, they refuse to take any parcels for that service and direct customers to the main PO in the town centre although they are happy to accept the same parcel if you were sending it via Standard Parcels. They have also in the past attempted to stop me sending a parcel which was within Royal Mails size restrictions because the postman collecting is only given a small van by the depot, crazy as it sounds l had to explain as to why that was not my, the customers, fault that the postman has a small van.
So unless l am really really desperate l no longer use that PO, l prefer to travel further to a smaller PO, so small only one counter staff can fit behind the counter and give them my business which is adding up to quite a bit a month lately.

You either work for yourself johnny, or you're desperately trying to impress someone.

Absolutely, people doing extra hours are working longer but are they doing more work? In Germany people who work beyond their contracted hours would be considered incompetent and unable to do the job properly.
