Rude post office staff!

Options
I was fuming today, spent a long time wrapping eBay parcels, walked 20 mins carrying said parcels, get to the po and one counter open with a customer and another staff member approached me said I will have to come back in an hour as they were closing for lunch! I said please could I just post these as I have walked a long way and she said no because then they both won't have time for lunch! !!!!!!! Surely they should have separate lunch breaks so the counter could stay open? As I was walking out I pointed out that the opening times on the door says nothing about closing for lunch and she just said, yeah I know! Oh and I checked opeing times online when I got home too no lunch hour!

Needless to say I won't be going there again!

  • 2 staff, only 2 counters in the post office, yes I understand everybody should have a break but why be rude about it, not very good customer service!

My post office are exactly the same I hate going in there and on the rare occasion I have to they are so bloody rude that now I am equaly rude back.
  • I think it might be policy to always have more than one person behind the counter, so if there only two members of staff, it's not possible for them to have lunch breaks at different times.

I've been at the local post office when one of them received a phonecall to say that she needed to pick her car up. The two staff members then decided to claim that there was a computer fault, so they could close the branch for long enough that she could pick the car up.
  • My local post office lets me drop off parcels with a blank cheque - they weigh them and post them and give me a receipt when I go back in later on. Marvellous service.

Some POs do close for lunch and if they continue to serve customers the counter staff miss out on their lunch break. Whenever they shut they are likely to have people arriving. It doesn't excuse rudeness but if employees have break which is not paid it is understandable that they want to take it. I assume the opening hours of the PO are on the door.

My local PO is excellent but I would not be surprised to be turned away if I arrived at or after their closing time.
  • My local p.o has only two counters, rarely are they both open! they close for lunch and there isn't always two people behind the counter. They always get mardy when i bring in more than 4 parcels too!!!
