Ok, so full moon adding to my stress last night meant I vented some things at the manwife. He said he was worried about me, cuz I'm stressing. A lot. I think I need to spend more time here, and see if I can get back in control again. I feel really out of control at the moment. So, here's my list of things I need to do over the next 2 months (not really in any order). Feel free to contribute thoughts/kicks up the bum/pep talks/dances with pom poms/winning lottery tickets as appropriate :rotfl:

1, next assignment is due in on Wed. I've still got about 1500 words to write, so this needs to be my main focus for the next few days. I seriously considered quitting OU, and coming back to this module another year. Right up until I looked at the cost of the module now the fees have gone up. £2500!!!!   very much not an option. So I need to knuckle down and get this !!!!!!! done and finished with. Final assignment is due in at the end of the month, and then there's about 3 weeks until the exam.

2, client #1 is due sometime in the next month. We need to do some final birth prep and I need to figure out various possibilities for childcare depending on the time of day I get the phone call.

3, I need to reregister with hmrc as self employed as soon as I get my cheque from above client.

4, I need to research and find a remortgage deal. Our current fix ends on 3rd Oct. If their SVR was staying the same I'd consider just reverting to that for a month or two, but it's going up by 0.5%. Need to find out what that means in real terms, because it might be that we can absorb the higher payment and then remortgage in Nov/Dec.

5, we've 12 birthdays between 10th Sept - 10th Nov  4/12 cards purchased. 2/6 gifts sorted. Need to do crack on with that! Gift budget should cover them.

6, got a big pile of boy clothes and school uniform that need checking over and adding to the eBay pile, and possibly eBaying this week while it's free listing. Maybe this can be my reward for finishing my assignment?

7, need to ring tax credits and find out if I've had a lapse moment and lost our exemption certificates or if we are no longer entitled to them. As manwife is diabetic he doesn't pay for his prescriptions anyway (good job really... diabetes is expensive!) but without the exemption certificate we will have to start paying for our dental treatment. This means either we need a new savings pot and a monthly contribution, or the possibility of dental care which manwife can get through work (but not until next July as it's a benefit and they only allow changes to be made once a year). I also may have to pay for my prescriptions - I'm unsure whether asthmatics pay for their prescriptions or have medical exemption.

8, client #2 is due at the end of October. Final birth prep, going over plans etc needs doing, plus getting my pool back from another doula so it's ready to take to her house. I'm not getting paid for it but the couple have agreed to write me testimonials for my website.

9, need to post a new SOA up. Income has changed, and outgoings are many.

10, we need to seriously think about whether we can keep our cats. Really saddens me to say it but my "only very occasional" cat allergy is slowly turning into full blown furry creature allergy. Plus my asthma and hayfever are getting steadily worse each year. I'm noticeably worse after touching the cats, or if I've been out of the house for a while (like, away on holiday for a week) and then come home.

11, need to make the most of the next few days which are supposed to be nice weather, and wash all our bedding and cut the grass.

12, meal plans need doing next week for the next month so an online grocery order can go in. My stock of meat/sauce/bulk meals is looking ok but I nnneeeeeeeedd mmoooooooaaaarrr! I hate having empty freezer drawers. Also another reward for a finished assignment I think?

Think that's it, for the moment. I reserve the right to come back later with something else though!

Edited to add: knew there was something else! 9th Sept marks 10 years since manwife and I started seeing each other. We had hoped to do something like go away for the weekend, but frankly there's no way the budget can incorporate anything like that. Any ingenious ideas for a special evening that cost little/nothing. I'm thinking nice dinner, candles, film maybe. Ohh... I have a kilo of salmon in the freezer... *strokey chin moment*

Keep going with the OU - nearly there now!

Can you get manwife to research mortgage options as his contribution to you not being stressed ;).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

During my lunch break I had a bit of a nosey at the OU library for some more background research and (alongside a few useful studies) I appear to have found a study on the usefulness of a particular method to measure the texture of cooked ham slices...
