    Hi all

I am very tired and frustrated that nothing is happening yet!!!!

Come on refund!!!!! I want to pay the Barclaycard off!!!!
  • Hi Silkglade, welcome to your new diary. It is the hardest part seeing the grand total, I remember the sinking feeling. I just don't know where ours came from. I keep telling myself to do an exercise one day whereby I write down everything I can think of that I have to show for my HUUUUGGGEEE debt. Or to actually go through the statements.

I know when I first started my diary I actually wished my life away from one pay day to the next as I wanted to update my signature and see the figures coming down. I am starting to realise though that life is very short and wishing it away isn't going to do me any favours, I am here for the long haul and so I may as well get comfy, keep my head down and get on with it :D

    Hi all......

Finally not feeling shattered now (just had the 3 busiest days at work of my life which left me totally drained beyond belief)..... especially as the two nights in between I could not sleep either. :(

Well I had my Halifax card statement clock over finally (I had requested a change of payment date change as last months payment was returned as my overdraft was at it's limit, I therefore got BANK and CC charges.... Great! got returned payment charge..... that then put me overlimit, so then also go an overlimit charge too) I had requested that the payment date changed from the 19th to the 24th (my pay day) Well the Statement clocked over and the extra interest put me over my limit AGAIN!!!!!

Well the new payment date is the 28th.... not the 24th I'd asked for. I sat down and worked out the interest down to a daily amount and it came out at just over £3.20 a day, so the extra delay of 4 days over what I had asked for are what ended up with me over limit.

I made a payment the day the statement was sent (not even received it in the post yet) to cover the interest over my limit and the charge as I knew they would not want to help me if I was still showing as over my limit. :o

I phoned today and even though I was angry about how this had happened I stayed calm and polite to the lady I spoke to.

She offered to refund the overlimit charge as soon as I had explained what had happened and why. She then when on to explain the whole process of why and how (which the guy I spoke to about changing the date did not) and when I said thank you for taking the time to actually explain this all to me she then decided that as the guy did not explain it she would also refund the overlimit charge from the previous month as a goodwill gesture. :A

Bless her I got £24 refund onto my card...... So no chance of it going overlimit again as it is not being used at all any more. :T

On a down side of today I had to take my cat and kitten to the vet today for their jabs, and it turns out that little one has mites so had to pay for his treatment today too £109 later I walked out of there!!!!!

That is now all our extra money gone that was going to stay in the bank till pay day to start paying off the sainsburys card. :(

Phoned rent company about the refund and they said they have received the letter and it will take up to 10 days for them to action it!!!

Just very stuck in limbo at the moment and feeling a little down as 1st payment off the sainsburys card will not be as much as I wanted and therefore will not be gone by the end of the year now.

We only have £103.65 left in the bank to last us till pay day now too..... that is 17 days

Hi silkglade thanks for popping into my diary,

Hold on in there, it's really frustrating waiting for payments to come in but it's all worth it in the end.

Vets are a nightmare cost and it's always sprung on you when you least expect it too. I don't know if you do this already so ignore me if you do. We buy all flea treatment (frontline) and worming tablets (drontal) online usually a years supply at a time it saves loads compared to the vets. We don't have cats but we have a huge dog though, i have seen cat products on there too.

Hi njk1012 I was actually thinking that on the way back from the vets.... Where do you get yours from (I was going to take a look at ebay)

    Thank you for the suggestion.

Still waiting on the refund payment though :(

    Hi there

Just wanted to sympathise about the vet bill. I don't understand why they cost so much. Also, spot on is cheaper than frontline and works really well. I tried it this year on my 3 cats and they've not had a flea or tick all summer (and we live in the country). Not sure about online buying cos I get ours in tesco but worth checking out for comparison.

I'm in a similar position to you in that I'm waiting for things to happen to really shift the debt. Just started extra work, big unexpected bills to cope with, but it will definitely be worth it in the end.

    Best of luck.

    Thank you AF

I am really appreciative of any good money saving tips I can get at the moment, we have very little left now as OH had to put £30 in the petrol tank this evening and leaves us a pitiful amount till pay day.

I have also decided this evening that I am not going to the work xmas do as the food alone is £40, by the time drinks and petrol / parking are added you are probably looking at kissing £60 goodbye.... That is a weeks food money for us now!!!!!

    Still awaiting refund :(

just want to start seeing things moving, but nothing happening at the moment...... Wishing my life away to payday!

I usually google and compare the prices. There is always a site with a buy 2 get one free or spend x amount and get free delivery and we take advantage in ordering a year or two's supply at a time. We have tried many other brands from supermarkets and pet shops but none seem to work for us. It's a personal choice but we wasted loads trying others that didn't work.

We find also with the front line we only need to use it twice a year in spring and Autumn and have had no ill effects. Although because of the breed of dog we have he only socializes with other pets that we know the owners well (can't risk false accusations, you really would be amazed).
