Ok, forgive me (rant alert) AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHR

and all the swear words under the sun and moon and more besides:mad::mad::mad:

Had to go and do check and send for the second time for youngest DS passport. It is wrong yet again:mad::mad::mad: It is just so infuriating and we were so very careful. It is not an easy process getting it countersigned either as all our professional friends live a good drive away. Also I am having a recurrent battle with taxis, vans and just generally ignorant but able bodied people parking in the disabled bay out side the postoffice so just getting in there is really difficult.

Poor DD has retreated to her bedroom as I shouted very loudly at the unfairness of the universe...ok and breathe.....think shiny, happy thoughts.....
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

A little bit grey here, but nice and blowy, so have some towels in the wm, should dry well today.

Lots to do today, dad has requested cakes and I have no eggs, so will nip to the shop to get some, then make cakes. I also need to do an online shop, hoover through whole house, polish, and get dd to change her bedding.

I also need to get some wood for the shelves in the bathroom, and hopefully get another coat of paint on the door.

Roast chicken for dinner, with all the trimmings, and dd and I will go and see dad.

Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx

PS Bargain Bird, where are you ??? hope you are ok xx

    Hi everyone,

I had a bit of a pants weekend, I've had some sort of stomach, headache virus so I'm feeling a bit washed out.

I want to try packing for my holiday - it's going to be a bit tricky as it could be cold or it could be warm, so I'll have to take layers. Apart from that I don't think I'll be very productive.

Bargain Bird, i hope you feel a bit better, keep in touch.

We have the rain here today.

It is our 24th Wedding Anniversary today :j I got breakfast in bed with a bunch of Roses, a box of milk tray and a lovely necklace from DH :D and we are going out for a meal tonight here:

They do a lovely meal and the service is great with lovely surroundings so I am really looking forward to it.

DH came home with a bag full of Kopperberg strawberry and kiwi for me from the Deputy Head to say thank you for helping out with bits for the school so that was a nice surprise this morning, she also bought DS some chocolates because he helped out in the Summer Hols. It is nice to be appreciated :D
DD has asked me to make a pizza so she can pop it in the oven for her and DS, easy peasy :p I have to make some bread today anyway.

Have Good Days all BFN x

  • Hi Everyone

I have been reading this thread over recent weeks and I would like to join in if that is okay - you all seem so kind and supportive.

I am currently having some issues at home - they are outside of my control so I would like to just take some control of the things that I can control (if you know what I mean!).

So, today I have everything sorted for the day, had breakfast and sorted out the kitchen. I am going to return some clothes to tesco that I bought last week - they were cheap but I think they look it and also I realised that I dont really need them and would rather have the money back in my bank - I do this from time to time in my weaker moments!

I am also planning on sticking to my diet today - or as near to it as possible. When things become difficult at home, I can often use food as a comfort and I am trying to break this habit.

Anyway, other than that, I just have a normal working day planned and Im trying to stay positive.

Well dogs walked, No2S dropped near college, WM on with No2S bedding, first load already on the line.

Now if I could convince No1S to part with his bedding I could wash that as well:rotfl:

I am even attempting to keep up with flylady thread . So far have cleared all the pots, cleaned down the sides, washed the tiles and cooker top and now decided a rest is in order.

Just about to have very early lunch as I need to drop off No1S and collect No2S before going to the gym.

Morning all, hope everyone is well or getting there.

It was a long weekend for me as I haven't posted so here goes:

Took my 15yr old to the education fair last Thursday but it wasn't exactly a help as they were just educational stalls on and I want her to try for a college near to home for transport reasons and our nearest college wasn't there! Anyway it was interesting.

Friday was spent lazily as I wasn't at work. I was naughty and because I was feeling down, bought a couple of dressess and cardys which I regret now but ........ tags taken off so will keep them. Why do I do it? I don't need any more clothes, it was purely a depressing moment so I spend. I was thinking of my eldest daughter on Friday who no longer lives with me, she moved in with her dad 8 months ago and won't speak to me anymore though I have tried. It hurts and I do miss her still. In the afternoon, I took the other two girls and the 15yr old bf out for a pizza treat which was the first time in ages and we had a lovely time. Friday evening was spent with cousins being babysat by her. Poor thing was woken up at 3am in the morning by a wet bed so she got up to sort it out and dutifully told me at the same time, which was nice. :D

Sat, me and the 12yr old decided to try and make some thimblie things, the recipe provided in the week, but unfortunately they didnt work. We are not sure what we did wrong but we ended up with a full tray bake instead of the cookie sized biscuits because it all spread into one. However, my daughter saved the day and decided to cut them up into squares and sandwich them together with lemon curd. There are non left at all!! All the washing was done in the afternoon and on the line to dry as the weather was ok. I had to td them at night though to get rid of the damp. Plus I tried the heating out to see if it still worked and yes, it does thankfully so one less thing to worry about later when it gets cold.

Sun was a lazy day. Eldest daughter offered to iron for me which was lovely but when I came to put my clothes away, I found half of them at the bottom had not been done! Ooooh how crafty, she thought I wouldn't notice so anyway ironing basket remains full. :rotfl: I cooked steak and hm chips for lunch following by a defrosted whoopsied b/cake which the girls will use all week for their school packups instead of bought biscuits. I went to the local market yesterday and stocked up on o/d crisps which will last for all October I think. I hate paying full price for them now and there is nothing wrong with crisps past their sell by date! (Low fat ones of course) :D

So, now back in work and very quiet again. Sun is shining and will go to the gym at lunchtime. Hm sarnies already eaten as was hungry through not having tea yday. Tea will be from the stocks in the freezer tonight. I have been invited to a wedding evening do today which was lovely but won't be able to go as I'm single and I really can't go alone so now feeling really low. Going to search for some antidepressing stuff - namely chocolate!

    Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone. Late on here because I thought I would be all saintly and virtuous and get my chores done first. Three loads on the line (all laundry collected from the last lot of guests), two loaves of bread in the oven right now, bank accounts checked and balanced, floors swept, bed made, bathroom cleaned, veggies peeled for tonight's roast (it's 26 degrees outside, but we haven't had a gravy dinner for a while!), and a little bit of paperwork done. Still have some online work to do but will do that after lunch but it's so nice here I may do a bit of gardening first.

Beth - I'm so sorry you're still feeling so unwell. Brave you with the spider and the Pyrex bowl; I just scream until my DH deals with them. We had one the other night while he was on the phone, and he had to wind the call up to help. I heard him say 'sounds like another b****y spider'! They seem to be huge everywhere this year. I've got fresh conkers so I'm going to be scattering them around later on today.

Hester - hope the cough is better and that you have an easy day at work.

Butterfly Brain - hope you and your DH have a wonderful anniversary, and another happy 24 years to come!

Welcome to Tryingtocutback - everyone here is very supportive; I can vouch for that.

Well, I'd better go and get something else done.

    Have a good day, everyone.

    morning all

i have so much i want to do and so little energy to do it. TTOM decided to arrive at 3am this morning :( feeling totally wiped out. i was enjoying sitting on the sofa with a magazine and chocolate biscuits and daytime tv. then get a phonecall that ds has been sick and has a high temp at nursery. he's now cuddled up on the sofa watching thomas.

i have ours and ds' bedding to wash plus a huge mountain of clothes, towels need doing too as ds looks like he may have had a touch of conjunctivitus. kitchen needs cleaning, floor mopping desperately. the living room is a bomb site and needs hoovering badly. hoover hasnt been picking up. hubby looked at it last night and i've sucked up the lid to ds' suncream... i wondered where that had gone :D the bathroom needs cleaning too. but all i want to do is curl up with a hot water bottle :o

i just dont have an ounce of energy at the moment. i think partly down to coming off my meds but gave in and took them again last night. seem to be upsetting mroe than ever. i dont know whether i am coming or going with tbh :o

anyway enough from me. hugs to all who need them

  • Hello! *waves*
    May I join in?
A lovely friend of mine sent me a book as a present for quitting smoking (3 wks 2 days now) and as she knows how i love OS everything but particularly cooking she got me this book called eating for victory (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eating-Victory-Healthy-Official-Reproductns/dp/184317264X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1317035409&sr=1-1) Its fantastic, really one of the best OS books ive ever read and i have so many ideas now :)
I wondered does anybody have any other OS books that they recommend? Not necessarily cooking. (ive got my eye on the make do and mend book at the moment).
We are going on holiday to Cornwall Saturday so this week im packing and wrapping hubbys Birthday presents (he is 46 on Sunday) and generally trying to get organised.
Also does anyone know...... (background) i had a bad tooth when i had my wisdom teeth removed 2 years ago one had caused my back molar to decay and i had a big filling put in there, (my only filling!) then in June i was told i needed a small filling in another tooth and the back molar needed a crown. So i had the small filling done then went back about 1 month later and had the filling removed and the mould taken and the temporary crown put on, then 2 weeks after that i went back and had the crown fitted, when i got home all my tongue was sliced up and sore and the tooth was painful etc so i went back the next day (facing sarcastic rubbish from the dentist too btw) then he said "oh i see i fitted it wrong" apologised profusely, took it out and re fitted it and it was obvious he was taking much more care etc. Then he said if its still not right go back. It felt completely different and i thought it was fixed but its now been just under 2 weeks and i still cant eat on that side especially if its something hot, in fact i even had a little room temp cupcake earlier and it hurt even then and so much so that my ear hurts and it lasts a good 30 minutes. Is this normal? i have an appointment for wednesday as i desperately want it sorted before holiday but ive no idea now what the next step would be??
Anyone have any experience at all?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, im petrified of dentists and had so much bad stuff going on lately and dont really have anyone to speak to about it.
Hubby is trying to be supportive and he is taking me to the appointments etc which is lovely but he is so stressed with work and other things he just keeps saying well wait and see what happens wednesday - which isnt really helping my nerves as ive been in pain now for so long.
Everything is always better after a cup of tea
