Surely it is better that the said poster has declared himself as an 'official ATOS representative'?

It's not surprising that Atos would put someone on this site - this is the only site I've encountered where they get anyone to 'massage' their ego (wrongly, in my opnion).

But I don't know to what end - I don't see what could be learned from him, since his company's not exactly noted for accountability.

They wouldn't do this on any other site, and that's because they'd get very short shrift on any other.

ATOS are an excellent organisation , tasked with the very difficult job of creating futures for people lost on benefit, and as such will be a valuable addition to the forum

i guess this is my view - as long as they are declared as an official rep, then everyone knows. people can read all kinds of opinions on here and at least this gives some right of reply. maybe that will make people think better or worse of them, but so many big companies have official reps that i think blocking one just because some (ok, a lot!) people don't like the company is wrong. hearing all sides of something is important and it's also a possibly good step that a company is concerned enough about the reports on here to have their own rep. it means they must be at least reading the complaints about them. that can't be a bad thing at all.

  • Look John I agree that ATOS want the right of opinion while clearly denying others that same right, but I believe in free speech and right of reply so I agree with the management decision, in this case to allow all factions access to this board, two wrongs don't make aright my friend. It stinks but its the very base point of a democratic forum. The fact of the matter is that they have almost certainly been slithering over all UK based websites scraping info for a long time, and will continue to do so.

But this is certainly not a democratic forum, nor does it claim to be. It is Martin Lewis's forum, and if people express opinions that his minions don't like they will impose sanctions, including deletion of posts, temporary or permanent bans.

For what it's worth, I believe that Atos are an incompetent and corrupt gravy train for lazy and useless doctors who can't 'cut it' in real medicine. It is time that medical assessments were done in a fair and proper manner to ensure people get the correct decisions on their conditions. This can't be done when you have targets and incentives for the assessors.
  • I'm a bit torn on this issue now.

I can't throw in my MSE membership because MSE doesn't 'delete' memberships, so I can't really express my complete disapproval.

On the other hand, I'm at a loss to see what, exactly, an 'Official Company Representative' of ATOS is going to say...or not say.

Are they going to repeat and confirm company policies? Of course, they're hardly likely not to are they? Are they going to deny scurrilous rumours? Of course, they're hardly likely to confirm them are they? Are they going to give an insight into how well-meaning and professional the company is? Very probably.

Perhaps we'll get insights into how the processes/interviews work, possibly by hearing about sample interviews? Well, no not really, because individual cases can't be commented on. Will they engage in public debate about the fairness or otherwise of the ATOS/ESA process that seems to have gripped some of the media, or perhaps how the ESA questionnaire was arrived at? Can't see it myself.

In which case we'll perhaps get some answers to or valuable insight into....what?

Will they be keeping an eye on who is saying what on the forums?

    Ooh, good question.

It's as close as it gets to the right to post your own version of truth or opinion [ equality for all ] without sanction .. .. that's close enough for me to describe it as a democratic forum. I too on more than one occasion have been ' sanctioned ' and had posts deleted. The very fact that I'm still here [ and rattling the AT0S cage ] is proof positive that the forum management allow all posters the right of reply.

  • Well I posted a few questions re what I have read re mental ill clients and needing reasurance thinking atos rep would reply. nowt yet !!!

if that was on the Board where the poor chap(ess) had abuse hurled at him/her by some of our worst cases, I'm not surprised!

Don't expect the ATOS rep to jump instantly because you have posted a question. He or she has not been on line since the 23rd and after the cit_k welcome he or she got, you might be waiting a long time before they reply.
I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!

I think it is a good thing the ATOS rep is here.

Might serve to get rid of some of the conspiracy theories. It also gives people an opportunity to get things straight from the horse's mouth.
    .

You expect to get straight non spin statements off him/her? You are being a little naive. All it will be is standard responses. I cant see their purpose here as all they will be able to do is repeat polocies parrot fashion.

So in reality what is their purpose here? Or is it just the case of ATOS paying someone to surf MSE. Nice work if you can get it.
