I worked at TSB where their HQ was on the Coventry Road for all of two weeks, pre the merger, before moving after getting a better offer at HSBC. Left the banking industry years ago though.

I used to work at Lloyd's Bank at Colmore Row & The Rotunda branch back in the day :D Them was the days when bank managers really was bank managers and actually made lending decisions etc and not glorified sales advisors

Ironically the sale is called Project Verde.

If Santander get the business it will be Project Merde!

Oh yes I do remember those days and not always with fond memories.
When I first banked with Lloyds back in 1983 I applied for a temporary overdraft of £150.00. I paid the debt back as agreed and then asked if it could be made permanent. The reply from the deputy manager was if it was up to him no problem BUT because the manager does not like you it would not be agreed.

Thank goodness we have now moved on from the Manwaring days and the computers are now the decision makers.

The Bank Manager must have liked me, when I went into TSB in Temple Row in the Mid 80's asking for a cheque book, I was 14 at the time, they asked me why I wanted one and then agreed to it. As I was interested in computers at the time, they took me behind the counter and showed me their computer systems.

    I'll always remember that :rotfl:

It'll have to be more complicated, because some branches are grouped. The address and sort code on my cheques aren't my branch, they're the mother-hen branch 15 miles away that does the back-office work for all the branches in the big city and for miles around.

And the mother-hen branch address for my branch is listed as one of the ones due to be sold.

My branch isn't due to be sold though. So I assume they'll be doing some changes to the groups and where they do the back-office work.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

    Oh s**t!

I forgot they have grouped branches, I thought that was something TSB did

Does this now mean my branch in Solihull could be affected by the mother hen branch being closed.

I didnt realise they still operated clusters I doubt the Lloyds TSB in central solihull would close would it?:eek: They might just re-cluster the branches again after the sale. However saying that they might not continue to do it as things are more centralised now a days.
