    Hi another newbie :hello:

After months of half-heartedly menu planning DH and I are now determined to stick to a budget and meal planning.

As this is our first attempt at sticking to one I will set a target of £375 for ourselves and 17 month old DS, to include toiletries, cleaning products, nappies etc.

Oooh nice early thread. i've been paid today so my challenge starts today.

my plan is for £300 to last us five weeks (though in reality I'm just hoping for £300 a month). That's me, OH and step son half the week.

I have been very sad and worked out how much some of our meals cost to shave a bit more off the bill (it's always over budget (which was £360) and usually nearer £400). I'm going to be doing a huge internet shop and then lots of smaller shops to top up.

so please can you put me down for £300 for the month (but aiming for 5 weeks)

  • Evening all.

Please put me down for £90 for October. I am trying to be more and more disciplined particularly at the end of the month. We are entering an interesting phase with the sms having to take into account the way we are now shopping - we obviously got altogether too smart at the bogof offers so now they will try and persuade us they are genuinely giving us the cheapest price. We will see! Thanks to whoever has to sort all these entries out!

I'm going to have another go at setting £120 for Oct, please! I overspent in Sept but got a lot of major items, pet food, etc. so hoping this month I can get in under budget.

PS thank you to organisers for the hard work on the thread, it really helps me to read it - I feel in good company!

  • Hello! Please would you put me down for £250 for October? Only £10 off of my target for September, but I am hoping that small but something I can achieve is better than larger and unrealistic...Thank you very much! Good luck everybody!

  • Well todays my first official day on the grocery challenge. I spent £6.72 in sainsbobs on potatoes, bananas, milk, grapes and cheerios (bogof). I have to say it made me think twice about what i was spending and it made me rethink a couple of things. Also meal planned til the end of the week. Aiming for a NSD tomorrow. My aim is for 10 of these this month as well.

  • Hi everyone, I've been keeping an eye out for the october thread starting so I could give it a go. I hope you don't mind if I join in. Hubby is in the process of moving from weekly pay to monthly and so we are without wages for 3 weeks:(. we knew it was coming so over the past couple of weeks I have stocked up on non perishables and have some bread and milk in the freezer.
I have enough dog food in for the month and cat/rabbit food for 2 weeks. If I can get away with not letting DH come with me when I shop I should be able to get away with £200 until the 25th oct, easily. That would be for 2 adults, 2 littlies and 4 fourleggeds.
I am going to set the budget at £300 though, until I know what I'm doing and work out properly where our money is going.

I have found a plastic folder in the girls room that I'll be keeping my receipts in and a little notebook to jot down all the little bits and pieces (like the kids dance class tomorrow) as they get paid out. I'm hoping posting on here will keep me on track :A
