Right, first time ever posting on the grocery thread. Ive been following for months but ive been slipping lately. My budget for October, starting 26th of September , when DH gets paid is £230. Couldn't make my mind up in regards to budget so Ive just guessed. I think I normally hit about £250.

There is myself, dh and 2 dd's (6 and 4). This is all breakfasts, Dinners, Packed lunch for all 4 of us, cleaning, toiletries and takeaways (not many of those at the min), Oh im also trying to build up a stock of food for winter/Christmas, so not asking too much lol.

Can I ask a quick question about NSD as i definitely want to set myself a target for these. DO you count your NSD as days when you spend absolutely nothing or just nothing on food related items. Say on a Monday i don't buy any food stuff but I always by myself a bus pass, Do you count that as no spend or not? Thanks x

  • Hi - Well Thanks to the thread I have just about managed to come in under budget for September. Technically I have until Wednesday but I get paid 4 weekly so I get paid tomorrow and we do need some stuff.

Because we struggled so much this month I am going to up the budget a little bit because I want to do an online meat shop which will hopefully get us enough meat to last until Christmas. So can you put me down for £360 for October please?

I would love to be able to get it down to about £200 but I just can't seem to manage it yet - loads of you on this thread get loads of reduced stuff in the supermarket but my Sainsbobs and T*scos NEVER reduce stuff past half price, and most of the time it is just a couple of quid off stuff. The little T*sco express round the corner does reduce bread to 10p sometimes but that is hit and miss. Asda have better whoopsies but it is a good way away from me and a waste of petrol if I get there and there is nothing decent reduced.

  • Hiya, can you pop me down for £50 I have been buying bargains and whoopsies galore, so its time to rein in my spending, I have been batch cooking the last 2 weekends, this helps me with dinners and lunches for work, which help my pockets, have even started my own soft drinks, crisps snacks etc to work, I have enough in my freezer for now.

im also hoping to buy a new fridge freezer in the next 2 weeks, mine is tiny amnd was given to me 11 years ago and only has 2 freezer drawers, with all my batch cooking and whoopsie finds, no matter how much I take out the freezer more goes back, so yeah, lol.

p.s cant highlight my number as im on my phone, soz and will amend later.

  • Good Morning all , £100 00 for October for me please I seem to manage very well at the moment on that amount .I only buy the essentials and trim away unnecessary bits as much as I can.Home baking cakes and making from scratch and I'm doing a lot of shopping from my stocks at the moment, as I'm trying to run down the freezer to be able to defrost it before Christmas
