Hi, can I join in please as my food bill seems to be getting higher and higher. There's 2 adults and 2 children (ages 8 and 4). I think I'd better start with £400 for the whole month and will aim to tweak it down a little bit each month from October onwards.

I'm in again for the month! As I managed to stay under last month, I am going to knock another £25 off the budget so please could you put me down for £400 for the October? I have self imposed a rule whereby I have to knock £25 off the budget if I come under. My ultimate aim is to get to about £350 per month which would be a comfortable amount for us and not too much compromising on some of the more expensive foods which we love.

I did start stocking up on a few Christmas treats last month so will continue this as and when I see good offers.
The freezer is looking pretty full so some good meal planning is in order me thinks.

Good luck to all the newcomers.
  • Must, must, must not spend more than £100 this month on food/toiletries for 1, household stuff for 2.

Please add me to the challenge. Need a kick up the bum.

    Thanks.

From our £320, we've so far spent:-

£6 in our local co-op last night,
    £43 in Aldi tonight,
£11 back in the co-op for dog food & 8 packs of drinking chocolate! It's on half price and I'm drinking one instead of an alcoholic drink before bed.
Need to pop into Tesco for a few odd bits but should be under for this week :)

I was going to make this chicken bhuna and then freeze the remainder, 4 chicken breasts will be too much for two! Would that be ok to freeze? I've noticed that they usually put a "freezable" logo on their recipes.

Spent £1.18 on breakfast at the yummy canteen at the other work site today and DH spent £6.79 on a bottle of red and a 3 pack of minstrels...not good for the waistline or the budget:o

DH decided he wanted sausage pasta tonight so I had to create something from scratch with onions, chopped toms, frozen peppers, garlic, sausages and some peperoni I had in the freezer. Served with pasta from AF and some garlic bread:)

Received a £10 voucher to tempt me back to Mr T delivery which is probably worth using, along with the other coupons they have sent me recently I should save a bit as the minimum spend is less than I spend in a week anyway.
