October 2011 Grocery Challenge

Please can The Thrifty Scrumpers be put down for £380 for Oct. Many thanks to Pink, Rosieben and Helen for all your hard work. Hope Mrs M is ok.
The £61 recorded for Oct is for two boxes of nappies and a donald Russell meat order for next week. I am going to try a box of mince and braising cuts of meat. Included is some brisket which I have never tried but I saw Jamie Oliver do a slow cook chilli using brisket on his summer programme which looked fab. I will report back if it is any good.
To all the newbies - good luck. Stick with it and try shaving a small amount off your budget each month. Since starting this challenge I have cut £60 off my monthly shop and we now eat far better. Ask lots of questions too, you will learn so much. Oh dear here goes
Hot and sticky day today.
I took soup in for lunch but didn't feel like it so went to Greggs and bought a sausage roll and diet coke (£1.95)
Then had my soup afterwards:mad:
Had to pick up DS from Explore Learning at Sainsburys at 6.30pm picked up pizza for kids and a pasta dish (sainsburys finest or whatever) a few crisp multipacK for packed lunches and some whooppsi fruit and veg
All in all £31.50 so total £33.45 for the day
Not a good one.
As I am also on the October halloween losing weight thread, I am going to take in branflakes for lunch tomorrow ( as well as for breakfast)
If you see me tomorrow afternoon, don't stand downwind:p:p

Hi all,
The sun is shining which is lovely and I plan to do a check of cupboard and freezer supplies today and work some recipes round them. Spent £30 the other day in sainsbugs, wasn't the healthiest shop, bought some wine:D, rolls and ham oh and some flowers for my lovely MIL.
