  • I've got lots of 'to dos' racing round my head, so need to get them written down...
    • transfer money to DD1s account
    • cash-in some/all(?) premium bonds
    • draw some money back from savings to cover meal last night :o
    • update spreadsheet
    • look for/buy pressies for 4 x nephews and my parents
    • pay girl in work for our office Christmas lunch outing
    • arrange to collect a microwave from a friend who's giving us their old one :D

It's not so bad now I've written it down. Now to actually get them all crossed off the list ;)

We've been naughty tonight and been out for a steak :o.

    :naughty::D
OH fixed the side mirror on the car today. It was knocked completely off while we were in work. OH bought the new glass (mirror) yesterday and has made use of superglue, builders mastic (I think!) and tape to fashion some kind of repair, so we have a 'working' mirror again now!

If you haven't been out since April, and you repaired your own wing mirror, you have earned the steak ;)

    Keep it up Been:D

  • Thanks Banwa :D.

So far from my list I have completed:

    transfer money to DD1s account
draw some money back from savings to cover meal last night :o

and today I will pay for my Christmas meal.

Also need to get a mealplan together as I'd like to do an online shop this week if possible as I have some 4sda vouchers to use.

We're on the home stretch now with our train tickets too. OH bought a weekly this morning. Mine expires tomorrow and I will then buy a weekly too. Then next week we will use up the converted T3sc0 reward vouchers which will cover 3 journeys. After that we will bring the car into work for the last couple of days until we finish for Christmas :).

Can't believe how close Christmas is now, and still got loads to do :o.

I succumbed to a C0sta coffee and mince tart this morning :o. I am really going to have to get my breakfast routine sorted, because even though I don't do this often, it's expensive when I do.

So anyway, on the basis that the nice coffee will give me a spurt of energy :D, today I need to:
    • bank some money
    • pay some bills online
    • check my account balance and update spreadsheet
    • cash-in premium bonds
    • do some Christmas shopping on my lunch break
    • hopefully collect the (free) microwave :)
    • prep mealplan and do online shop
    • sort out returns (Christmas pressies that DD2 ordered online but doesn't like :()
    Best get cracking :santa2:

  • Well I completed everything on my lists apart from returning the items DD2 didn't like. Will need to get this sorted this week, just hope I'm not too late :o. (If I am, they'll end up on ebay!)

I'm hoping to have a relatively quiet day today, apart from taking DD2 to work as some point. I was the family-taxi-driver yesterday as OH had his club chrimbo do. He'll be out of sorts all day, nursing his hangover, lol. I'll need to check the bank account later to make sure it wasn't raided

I used some of our Redspottedhanky/T3sco rewards to buy train tickets for tomorrow. Saved £5.50 in cash :). There's still £9 left on the voucher so this will be used on Tuesday for the remainder of our train journeys for this week. The rest of the week we'll be using the car as it will be cheaper than buying daily tickets.

I've still got some Christmas shopping to finish, mainly for my nephews. I'll need to do this tomorrow as they'll be visiting us sometime before Christmas.

  • Hi Been,

    Sorry I haven't posted recently.
Unfortunately it's only a quick post tonight as it is getting late.

    Have a great Christmas!

  • Morning Been :)

I've followed you over from Bonnington's diary and over a couple of cups of tea this morning have read your journey thus far! I'm very impressed with the way you have tackled your te$co card head on! well done on clearing so much in such a short space of time!

We also had to get rid of our 2nd car (although this happened pre-lbm as we simply couldn't afford the insurance or tax :o you would have thought this would spur on the lbm...but no :rotfl:) you get used to it eventually and when you see how much you save in petrol, insurance, tax you will finally think it was worth it ;)

My ds1 sounds like your son with shoes & rugby boots! I bought him a pair in september and he had ruined them by october half term  i got him a cheap replacement pair from te$co but next time he is getting some DM's (also at height of fashion when i was at school :o showing my age haha) or start rites as they last longer than cheapy ones and i don't care what they look like :p

I'm off to subscribe, I love seeing people get their debts down with such enthusiasm it spurs me on when i'm having down days! If you don't come back before xmas I hope you had a good one! And if you do, :xmassign:

My statement for the target card was available yesterday, and my balance is now just over £813 :), minimum payment for next month will be £23 and interest estimate is £14...it's shocking that my card balance would only reduce by £9-odd if I didn't make the overpayments . Anyway, the plan is to make more than the minimum payment, although I'll need to update my budget before deciding how much to pay as we have insurance, tax and MOT due in January .

Since my last post we've received £180 cashback relating to DS's phone, arrived just at the right time as I was panicking that we might run out of cash by Christmas :o, and this morning woke up to a £5 lottery win :rotfl:.

As of today, I can proudly announce that we've paid for Christmas without resorting to the CCs or taking on any more debt. In fact, we've overpaid (by about £40 lol) on our credit cards this month. This is unheard of for December. I'm very pleased with this :T:o.

Just need to keep things tight next week while we're on leave and not go spending in the sales. It's payday next Friday and at the mo we have enough cash to see us through til then ;)

  • Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas :).

Since Christmas day, I've had a quiet couple of days while OH has been decorating DD2's and DS's bedrooms. They are coming together nicely now and hopefully should be finished before we go back to work next week.

DD2 has picked up a bug somewhere and is out of sorts today. She's lying on the sofa feeling sick and sorry for herself. I'm hoping it doesn't come to anything much otherwise it will be a restless night :(.

As we're coming into the season of NY Resolutions, I want to have a think about my Goals for 2012. The obvious one is to reduce the debt further and ideally I want to do this by making more £££s rather than further reducing our spends. I've got a few ideas, just need to clarify them in my mind and then get them down on paper. I might even put a Vision Board together to remind me and keep me motivated :D.
