That's kind of like saying if your windscreen is smashed and the insurer is taking too long getting it replaced, that if you don't fix it yourself then you're just lazy and clearly not that worried about having a windscreen.
Cheesymax, while most people here (such as above) are spectacularly missing the point - they are right. Your claim would not be with the glazing company, it would be with the insurance company. At best you could say that you were left overnight with an open window with a child in the house. You might get some compensation for that, you might not - I wouldn't say there's a legal ground for you to though.
Unless the insurance company specifically said they would have the window boarded up for that night?
Finally, someone gets the point. Thanks for trying to appreciate what i was getting at instead of giving some half witted, condescending response like the majority.
I agree now that the insurer is who my grievance is with, however only because they have beneffited financially from my inconvenience.0 -
I'm guessing the contractor will have paid for the claim themselves as they are likely to have an excess of at least £250 more likely £500 with very large companies often taking excesses in the thousands so they use their insurance for catastrophes0

Was good to catch up with the latest on this thread, compo is for when you have been out of pocket from an event so cant see how you have a grievance.
Because compensation is only ever paid out for financial reasons. :T
Guess someone better call InjuryLawyers4U and tell them to stop running their commercials.0 -
What has the presence of an 8 month old got to do with any of this, totally irrelevent but you obviously think using this helps justify you claim for compo.
In hindsight, your right, I put that in only, wrongly, to try to emphasise the point I was making.
However, what is your relevance to this thread other than to nitpick minor details on a large post. Go and do something constructive.0 -
Because that's my personal view. You seem to think the poor old insurance company are going to be going to receivership shortly because of a window claim.
No i don't, nor did I say I was worried about their financial standing.
I just don't see how the size of their organisation in anyway affects you and what you should receive. Whether they are a one-man band or a worldwide corporation your entitlement is the same -- window repaired.
You seem to think your owed more and the fact they will have lots of cash seems to be your justification for it.
Some perspective is what you need, not pots of cash.0 -

Now that is funny. You have had a minor inconvenience and come on here thinking you are due some sort of compensation.
Guess you are just following the trend in this country just now to seek something for nothing. There are plenty of no win no fee solicitors that you can approach if that is the route you wish to take.0 -

Don't be daft. There's a big difference between boarding up or reglazing a window with a few tacks and some putty and redoing a car windscreen, how on earth you came up with that comparison is beyond me, where is the rolly eye emoticon when you need it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I never for one second suggested there wasn't. It's called an analogy, look it up.0
