Flash is a pretty important aspect of internet browsing, whether we like it or not. .
In our house we have an ASUS eee pad (android) and I have an ipad2. The lack of flash is frustrating and if I had my time over I would of got the android pad like m hubby.
In the past week, for example, on my iPad I have been trying to research new cars, look for a local family photograph and buy football tickets. The lack of flash made for hard work. Half the car and photography sites I couldn't vew for the lack of flash. Football tickets were impossible to buy as again the site required flash. In the end I gave up and used the eee pad.0 -
I am thinking about getting an ipad, it will be in addition to a netbook but I plan on letting the kids have main use of netbook from now on.
Have seen that there is an app for iworks, a bit like word, has anyone used this? I really want the ipad 2 for browsing, emails (hotmail), but would like the ability to do some basic word processing etc when the need arrises. How does ipad do for this?
Think I am going to go for wifi only as cant see using 3g- will use android phone for that if needed- but what size would you reccomend, I saw one article that said the 16GB would be best/ok for most people, would you guys agree? I think its another £80 or so to get 32GB- is it worth it?
cheers0 -

I have got a wifi only 16GB & it's big enough for what I need. I've got hundreds of music tracks & photos on there as well as loads of apps and it's nowhere near half full yet.
It's videos & movies that tend to take up most space. If you plan on downloading movies and keeping them on the iPad then you might need the 32 or 64GB one.
I can't comment on it's word processing capabilities as I've not used it for that yet, but for browsing the internet, email, photos, games etc it's brilliant. Yes some people say that it hasn't got flash so it's pointless but I hardly ever come across websites now where I can't view video. There are some but it doesn't really bother me and if it's important I'll use my mac! Money well spent in my opinion0 -
thanks,
I dont really get the Itunes synch thing, at the minute all of my itunes tracks are on the netbook- if I set it up to synch with Ipad- will they all be stored on there as well?
And whats this cloud thing...I get the idea behind the cloud, the big server in the sky, but what do you get to store there on the ipad?0 -
You can choose how many & which music tracks to put on the ipad. When you connect the ipad to your netbook iTunes will open up and will automatically back-up the iPad and everything on it - which is "syncing". You can then transfer music, photos, video etc which are on your netbook to the iPad.
iCloud is just Apple's new online storage system where you can back-up your device to iCloud and it will store the information in the same way as backing it up to your netbook would. I haven't activated iCloud yet and I'm not sure if I will.0 -
I've used 44GB storage on my iPad 2, I also have a few GB of films with aren't currently installed on the iPad (just backed up on iTunes my PC). That's mostly loads of games though, a few of them are over 1GB in size. The largest app I have is The Elements ( http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/the-elements-for-uk-ireland/id372973594?mt=8 ) , it's 1.7GB and it's a lovely app, I really recommend it.
I would think 32GB would be enough for most, 16GB doesn't seem like much though. The storage isn't upgradable later if you decide you want more.
I don't notice the lack of Flash much, websites with free Flash games don't work of course but lots of those wouldn't work very well without a keyboard and mouse anyway.0 -
do we know when ipad3 is due?0

No. iPad 2 was March 2011, so maybe March 2012, but nothing's been announced.0

I have an iPad and Flash is not that big problem. Only some sites do not work with iPad.
However I found bigger problem with iPad is not having access to file system. But then I jailbroken it and now I can install apps just like in Windows computer (bypassing Appstore altogether)
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
Flash is a pretty important aspect of internet browsing, whether we like it or not. I wish apple would man the ef up and incorporate it into their products. Rage level - rising.
its deliberate to stop you playing flash games so you have to buy apps
lack of flash is not really a problem for me on my iPad/iphone0
