Old Style Daily Thread for Saturday 24th September 2011

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 24th September 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning x
I am up early as DD is off to work this morning. She has worked full time this week and if flagging this morning so needed some "help" aka lots of licks and doggy cuddles to get up and showered:p

We had a trip to C0stc0 yesterday and they had all the Christmas decorations etc in :T:T:T We did treat ourselves to a few tasteful items :cool::cool:

Anyway the washing machine is on with eldest's festering rugby kit that would have grown legs and walked out in disgust:mad: Then I have a shop delivered and just pottering today. Later we have to pop out to see a friend who has moved house but very quiet day on the whole.

Off to take DD. Hope you all have a good day and huge hugs xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

  • Morning Molly & all who cross/follow.
I decided I NEEDED a cuppa, so the kettle is on, then I shall browse online for a while.
I've loaded the DW but it's not full enough to start going & the same for the washing.
Today I shall prep yet more apples & tomorrow we are going to DD's to say goodbye to the foster children.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning Molly, Hester and all who follow. Up due to OHs snoring - glad hes only home at weekends. Puppy asleep on my lap and coffee in its cup (yum). Planning on doing a car boot today with all my items under £2 hope I sell some as I need to clear my dining room. Have also put a few things on ebay in an effort to clear the house. OH says hes going to clear the garage today - we'll see what he actually does! Amazing what you find you dont really need!

Tea tonight will be sausage casserole with crusty bread - once Ive cleaned out the bread machine! Depending on how I go today I might do another boot sale tomorrow too. Noticed on the front of one of the papers yesterday that as from Monday Tesco are apparently launching a price war - bringing down the price of staples like bread etc. And Martins email said that they were stopping their double points shortly, so I've started buying things that I know I'll need at Christmas. I use the double points for days out in the summer holidays so it really helps - 7 of us went to Legoland this summer - cost of 1 ticket was £40 I noticed, so what a saving! Need to get my change ready for the car boot - enjoy your day everyone.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning Molly, Hester, esmf and everyone else

The big yellow ball is here and WM nearly done - what a good start to a Saturday (it is for me!) :D

Got to do food shopping and more washing this morning; may go to the food fair in the small town near us this afternoon.

Went to Junction 32 with my sister yesterday - was very restrained in what I bought, but my best bargain was a pair of Next snowboots for DD, boys' ones but the right size, for £2 down from £11 - very pleased with them! :j

Hope you all have a good morning - hugs and kisses to the poorlies/in need.

  • Morning all!

Wasn't around much yesterday as I had some bad news on Thursday and spent most of yesterday sulking. Today I'm feeling depressed and anxious but really need to stir my stumps or I'll suffer for it - I have Bipolar Disorder so need to manage my moods quite strictly.

It's a cold, clear morning in Glasgow and the house is chilly. The DW is on and breakfast is cooking. Today's plan involves doing yesterday's housework from the FLYLady thread and making a run into town as I need to go to a big branch of Boots.

Hope everyone else has a happy, OS day.

    Morning All

Only manage to post here every now and again. Up early today, the change in the weather seems to be affecting my sinuses. I've got loads of washing out and some waiting to go out. it's a beautiful autumn morning here in West Yorkshire. Lots to do today, town, supermarket and then we are going to a family birthday party. Got to take the boys to footy training and daughter is home from uni but also going training today.

Have a lovely day everyone, whatever your plans.

  • Good morning everyone.
It's very foggy here at the moment but the sun is trying to find its way through. We are supposed to be in for a nice weekend weather wise.
Plenty of washing to do today. I have to go shopping at some stage. I really must try to get on with some course work. I haven't really touched it since DD's alopecia.
I hope everone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

GOod morning everyone, sorry to hear your feeling down laura, hopefully your trip into town will lift your spirits.
Sun is out here and it is about 13degrees, so thank goodness the heating has stayed off. still feeling under the weather so going to go for a long walk today and get some fresh air,
Just had a glance at the paper and it really has got my hackles up, the area I live in has someone who has called the out of hours medical service over a thousand times in three years and received visits to that extent too! From the reading of it - there is a drug addict who calls NHS 24 everynight and the Out of hours Doctors visit him to give him controlled drug injections. Someone has - rightly so - brought this out into the open, as many genuine people are refused home visits. Surely if this service is required to a patient every evening it is not this service they require but full assessment of their circumstances and medication reviewed, and this should have been stopped long ago. The cost to the NHS dealing with this is over £100,000, plus reduces the availability of cover for more deserving patients. - rant over!!! It takes us all our time to get an appointment at the doctors surgery during the day!

Will be chicken, roast potatoes and veg for tea. Popped to local chicken factory shop yesterday and picked up a 4lb chicken for £2, and 5kg of chicken fillets for £25, Hubby was given a sack of tatties and a sack of carrots on Thursday so will have the soup pot on too for a lovely pot of chicken broth. Hopefully I will find some brambles when out walking and we will have a nice apple and bramble crumble for pudding.

Have a good day and enjoy the sun while it shines!
