Went into the branch, they checked and there was no record of the card having been (or waiting to be) activated. So they did it there and then.
I must say the branch staff have been most helpful. Twice now they have put things right when technology has let natwest down.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Think it's 48 hours for activation via text - it is one of the longest methods, but i suppose it helps if you can't get to a branch/don't have online banking.Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion
