does anyone know if small charity shops which use recycled carrier bags (ie used ones donated by customers) will have to charge please?

I think of more concern is the amount of plastic wasted with shampoo and other beauty products bottles. TMake up including skin care products are typically sold in small quantities ie. make up usually 50 or 100ml. Also the rise in skin cleansing wipes which are not biodegradeable! What is wrong with soap and water?

  • I know my husband noticed a sign up at a Mcdonalds saying about forth coing charges for bags, think its a bit daft for Mcdonalds to charge as they could easily do a fold out tray/ box type thing instead of a bag, Otherwise then i'm fine with the bag charging thing..sometimes people have bags when its really not needed hope this it brought out across the country & not just in Wales
  • What about the large brown paper bags that the American Supermarkets use (maybe they dont now I am only going on what I see in American programmes on tv:o) I quite like the idea of carrying my shopping in large brown paper bags, they could be made from recycled paper as well, or is that defeating the object?
  • Good riddance to the blooming things...Sooner the rest of the UK follows and gets rid, the better. Doesnt take a genius to put a couple of bags in your pocket or a few boxes in your car. While they are at it, I reckon its time to get rid of the mountain of plastic that is on items in the supermarket (honestly, do jaffa cakes need to be wrapped that many times?!)

well went up tesco and there was a lady walking round with the bags when i paid for shopping but i noticed them putting it through the till not as bags or seperate bags just as a 10p item etc (i thought the money was supposed to be going to charity)

(honestly, do jaffa cakes need to be wrapped that many times?!)

    Twice is hardly excessive.

Wrapper one: Plastic to stop the Jaffa Cakes going stale

Wrapper two: Cardboard to stop the Jaffa Cakes getting squashed to !!!!!!y.

Do you have a better suggestion?

SERIOUSLY!!!!! are macdonalds charging for the brown paper bags?

I wonder how many people will go to the counter, and when they are asked if htey are eating in or taking away, they will say eating in, and take the tray out to the car:rotfl:

I don't do online shopping very often but on the occasions I have then it is always delivered pre bagged.

Would they just bung that on the price or would they ask if you want the shopping lose ?

Now we have to pay for carrier bags if one breaks while full of shopping can you return to the shop for a refund of not only the bag but any shopping that was in there that was spoilt as you could say it was not fit for purpose!
