Haven't posted much on here as I haven't had much to talk about lately, but had a double MSE result today so I thought I'd write about it.

Vodafone used to issue my phone bill around this time each month, and payment was due 7 days later, which meant I always had to set aside an unknown amount of money from my pay on the 21st each month for it, and wait to find out how much as its my only variable bill. I contacted them about it and they changed my trading terms so that I get the bill around about now, and the money gets taken out of my account on or after pay day. This will help me greatly as I can include the amount in the next month's budget every time I get a bill, and the money comes out just after payday. (have I lost you? Are you following? Is this even interesting. hehe)

An added bonus of making this change is that I don't have a mobile bill coming out in this pay period - result for the pay period before Christmas!!

Today's MSE result came when my bill was issued and it included a £59 credit which was an incentive for me to upgrade in October. So not only do I not have a bill in this pay period as above, but also next pay period I won't either as my account is in credit :) and the month after that my bill will be reduced as it will use the remainder of that credit. Upgrading that phone truly was one of the best MSE things I have done this year, second only to my PPI complaint. (you'll remember I sold my old phone and ended up profiting from the upgrade at the time, let alone getting this credit)

Hope everything is going well for all other MSE'rs reading this, and that Christmas is not hitting the pockets too much. It does occur the same time every year after all! Hehe.

DFW - Oh no - Have you all got it? How many kids involved? I suppose they have to get it at some point so just one of those things you have to deal with. I must have had them as a baby because Mum insists I'm immune but I don't remember having them.

LG - You're right, such a good feeling. I can't remember a year where I wasn't still paying for people's extravagant Christmas presents in March! :) I do still need to find a decent photo of me and OH to print to put in my Aunty's frame. This will complete the preparations (already have the frame). I found the perfect pic of me and my sister with our respective OH's, but it came out all carppy when Boots printed it. Luckily they didn't make me pay, and when I do get it printed its only 25p I'll use points for, so doesn't really count.

Had a total result today, one of my suppliers invited me to lunch to thank them for our business so I had a free lunch and a couple of wines *hic*. It means the 2nd portion of Lamb Rogan Josh I made in my slow cooker can carry over until tomorrow and tomorrow's will carry over to Friday :)

I made the Rogan Josh in my slow cooker on Monday night and it is A-MAZING!!! Let me know if anyone wants the recipe. I almost considered turning down the lunch today it is so good. Haha.

  • I was thinking the other day while watching Nigel Slater, there is room for thrift cooking on our televisions.
Not enough of them cook a meal which isnt the equivalent of a fiver a head!
    Trying to shift that debt!

Couldn't agree more! The amount of olive oil Jamie Oliver glugs all over his cooking you'd think it was free.

  • I sniff a niche market. Lets sell the idea!

It can have a mince section!

  • Im want in on that idea!

If you have a spare minute over the weekend I'd love that recipe. Just been skyping army boy and he's keen on a curry in on his first night back. A positive of him being over there is that my cooking will taste like nigella lawsons compared to whats he's had! :D
