Well I know I should just let this go through to the keeper... I really don't want my diary to go down this road... but how is this discrimination? I don't have and will never have children, so does the fact I'm not afforded all the child-related benefits that my colleagues enjoy mean I am being discriminated against?December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

My bosses argument. Well, I am not going to leave on the back of this one, and if our firm has these policies in place, and yet wont put them in place for me, that is discrimination I am afraid.
They have been put in place elsewhere in the business.Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Also, I have a colleague who does Friday prayers. This is not causing any issues. Not with me or anyone else!Trying to shift that debt!0

I see. Is there a period of time you need to work there before you become entitled to the benefits then?
I know at my company there are a lot of different sets of benefits floating around because my company has grown largely from acquisition of other companies. They have tried to harmonise the benefits as much as possible, but can't take benefits away from people without replacing them with equivalent benefits, so the result is that a lot fo us get different deals. It all comes down to the contract doesn't it?
Best of luck with your negotiations anyway, I hope they see a result for you.December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

Yes, well in my terms and conditions it states (unlike my flexible working colleagues) that I have a right to work flexibly in line with family friendly policies!
So if I am on the old school terms, like the colleagues then I can work flexibly, if I am on the new terms I can work flexibly. However my boss refuses to aknoledge the family friendly policy as there is only me with a family at my level!
I think he is testing my mettle. Its a load of chuff, I just want the result I dont care how I get there, because the business will require me to travel 200 miles and back again in a day on a ad hoc basis, this is fundamental to working flexibly, but under terms imposed on me I might be unable to do that.Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Anyway ducks I am thrilled things are going well for you. I am just a bit of a Socialist Militant type. It makes men hot under the collar, and it also gets you a box of quality street from quiet types at Christmas..Trying to shift that debt!0

Thanks... I still feel bad diarising my savings efforts on the DFW forum, but am assured by others that its motivating to read.
Truly the thought that I would be in the position so soon back when I was in debt seemed impossible, so I hope people are inspired. I just keep hunting for ways to up my income and finding them.
I still find myself so impressed with the progress you've made since April!December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

True, thats why I totally value the lessons I learned when I was in debt. For that reason I don't know if I can say I regret the debt, as it taught me so much about money.December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]
