...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Well done:beer: You CAN sort this out.....one day you will be on Martin's roll of Honour:money: We're all cheering u on:T0

Hello BH I'd just like to say a quick hello too
Good on you for sticking with it and having the guts and determination to tell your OH. The Sassers household has been cheering you on since your first post!
Just something else that might help you - you mentioned your washing machine - when you feel like it, if you google freecycle and join your local group, you might be able to get a free washing machine from the posters there. It's an excellent site that'll make your pennies stretch even further.....
Sending you a BIG (((hug))))

I am sitting here crying my eyes out - way to go girl - you have taken the first and most difficult step.
Re the washing machine - I rent mine from our local electrical store (Hughes) at £13 per month. That way, I know where the money is going and they replace it with a new one every two years. If it goes wrong - they repair/replace it within 24 hours or I don't pay that month. For me it works as it is a regular amount of money with no hassle for engineers, no unexpected bills and no extended warranty issues.
As for your hubby, give him a hug from all of us and good luck with the doctors - they can do miracles with drugs, but I suggest you go for some kind of cognitive therapy as well. I went to see a psychiatrist - he told me I wasn't mad and explained why I felt the way I did (brain chemicals and stuff). That helped. It also helped telling someone everything. My last manic acquisition bout was triggered by a very early menopause (38) and my spending up to that point had hit an all time high. Worth a thought.
Keep going and smiling and keep us all posted - some of us are worried out here.

Honey, you're already beginning to sound better, huge improvements in yourself since you began posting.
Hang onto that, as there will be times while you'e getting sorted that you'll feel utter despair again.
CCCS are very good, nice, kind, helpful, non judgemental, but they're at teh end of a phone line.
Sometimes it's good to speak to a human being face to face. Teh CAB are marvelous, they'll offer cheery smiles, and be completley understanding, reassuring, and make an apointment with a debt counsellor, who will be the same.
When we're feeling very low, it can be very helpful to have human contact in this way.
I too, as others have, have suffered from depression. Over the years, I've leanrt some pretty helpful tricks to help me cope when I odn't think I'll ever craawl out of a pit of despair.
Every night as I nod off, I count my blessings - the children, DH, friends, family, health etc.
Whenever I feel negative, I look for the positive, and try to turn it around in my head.
In the instance of debt, we owe loads, we're dealing with it. If things hadn't come to a head, we'd still be applying for cards/loans, and getting deeper in. So, from the positive outlook, we're dealling with things, the situation isn't running away with us, we're slamming on the brakes and reining it in.
Which is what you're doing.
Not to mention the fact that you are learning so much about debt, how destructive it is, how to deal with it, how to deal with different comapnies. By the time you're all sorted, you'll be in a grand position to advise others. Perhaps this is an opening fo ryou to work with those in crisis yourself.
Maybe your positive gift will be what you have learned and can give to others.
The point is, it doesn't matter how we get through it, we do. Look for your little tricks to cope, share them with us, as well as your highs and lows, and let us lal support one naother.
Take care pet, and keep yoru chin up, you're doing great.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
I had a friend with bi-polar disorder and in the manic mood-swings he'd do nothing but spend, spend, spend. He bought us a really expensive camera once whilst in a manic state (we took it back and told them not to sell him anything else).
Once you have got your condition under control (if it is BPD), then you won't want to spend so much and the problem will seem a LOT easier.
God bless you and your husband, and keep us posted.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Good Morning BH, It was such good news to see that you have told hubby and are getting things sorted.
Remember that both the root cause of the problem and dealing with the effect are just as important as each other, so take each day at a time, make small steps in the right direction and eventually you will get there.
A call to payplan or CCCS will really help you make a huge step towards taking control. You may well find that you get as much of a buzz from taking control and making positive changes towards being debt free as you did from spending the money in the first place.
I know that if I have a no spend day, it gives me a little glow inside - I have achieved something :A Every little helps!

Just wanted to say hi and a great big well done... you have done all the hardest part and it must be a great big load off your mind telling your hubby.
The only way now is onward and upward! xx0
