I bought my iPhone 4 from them with no problems - was a bit worrying though when during the 20 mins I was there 3 guys sneakily came in trading sealed 3DS and PS3 games for cash with no ID whatsoever - how does 1 person have 3 copies of MarioKart 7 to trade? They'd get a lot more elsewhere...does seem a bit dodgy to me!

One reason is that one shop has MarioKart 7 on sale and they are buying copies to sell to CEX to make a small profit.

I've been told its the other way round by staff member - that they have a set amount put aside for cash purchases so the later you get there the less chance you have of selling your items for cash, although the other game stores do it the way you have described.

That's true. We had more money to buy stuff in, in the morning but if someone comes in at 9am and sells lots of stuff for lots of cash then that's the whole day's cash float gone which did happen once but usually it was lots of cash purchases in the morning which meant the afternoon had to be exchange only. My recommendation for getting cash would be a weekday or attempt early Saturday. 9am is almost guaranteed depending on what the previous day was like.

They would have needed an account to sell to CEX so may have shown ID previously.

I also sell sealed games to CEX occasionally. I once bought 10 copies of Just Dance from Argos and sold them to CEX for £20 profit. I also bought 2 copies of COD:MW2 and sold them to CEX for £10 profit and recently bought 1 copy of COD:MW3 and sold for £18 profit.
  • I had a dreadful experience with CEX - I foolishly decided to sell them my iPhone. Like so many other customers I had to resort to emailing them because no phone numbers were published...and I had heard nothing from them for several weeks after I sent them my phone.

None of my emails were replied to, until...I found the Chief Exec's email address online :D

For those of you experiencing problems I'd suggest you copy in any email you are sending to:

    Robert Dudani: robert@webuy.com

    It worked for me...

Sorry but how much more wrong could you get. Next time check your facts before saying things as true.

There are no stolen goods or very few. When CEX buys in a phone, they check the stolen/lost database. If any one seems dodgy then they refuse to buy it. When I was working there, we called the police on so many people who attempted to sell stolen stuff. The police kept coming and checking the stock to see if there were anything stolen and only once did they find something and we gave the thief's details and banned him from the shop. CEX works hard with the police to make sure that nothing stolen goes through there.

I never ever had a problem with my wages. I got paid on time and it was never out of the till.

Most of the transactions I did in a day were people buying not selling. A lot of people did want to sell and a lot more people bought stuff. In the weeks before christmas, the stock level got really low.

A couple of customers were on drugs and a few got violent because they thought they had a right to sell their broken stuff but the majority of people were nice. When I was working there, we had a good little team and no one had problems.

Anyway to answer the OP question:

The dispatch next day is once they have finished picking the item. They do care but it can get quite busy and as shop staff are picking the item, if the shop is busy it can be a little slow. I hope you get your item soon.

Well I disagree I bought a phone from vex recently IE 6months ago and went to sell it today to be told it is stolen! So I went in store and they will not deal with me as I lost my receipt but I do have my bank card used to buy it and this phone should still be on the system but ah without a receipt they will not help! Even though it is registered by Imai and my bank details on their records!
  • Never been overly enamored with the local CEX to me - prices seem quite steep for the products they sell and if you go in on a busy day you might as well turn around and leave, because there's no way you'll get served. Not the staffs' fault of course, it's just they can't physically get to you to help because of how busy it can get.

From memory most if not all stores are franchises anyway - might explain how some stores operate in a different way to others. And the online ordering is a bit like Cash Converters - the stores 'pool' their stock into a database, but it's also still on show in the actual store itself, so you could order something like a DVD player that could end up being the same DVD player being taken to a till in store to be bought by someone else. A rather messy way of doing it but I guess from a business point of view it means they don't need a central warehouse to hold stock in for online orders.

I wont touch em. Or cash converters for the reasons listed above.

Actually, you do have a receipt. Just go in to your bank and ask for a printed statement with the transaction when you bought that phone. This is legally accepted as a receipt for purchasing goods.
