With the exception of Joshua and Benjamin all those names appear in my kids school years (4 and 7) and in every case the child is known by their schoolmates as their full name. I have only ever heard Daniel and Oliver called Dan and Oli by their respective parents. I don't even know if kids make the conenction between William to Bill/y since Billy appears now as a 'stand alone' name.0

I'm sure I saw a survey last year or so that said children with imaginative, unusual, celebrity type names were more likely to misbehave. It said that teachers knew who would be trouble simply by skimming through the class list before the children arrived. Children called Ben or James or Charlotte or Elizabeth behaved better than Heidi-Mae or Kai.

You surely can't expect everyone to agree?0 -
I voted Joseph but I'm a bit biased as that's the name of my lovely boyfriend0

Really, why?
Because "Imaginative" in children's names too often equates to "chav", or "stripper", or "parents just can't spell" names....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
This poll isn't going to help you much! All very even.
all nice solid traditional boys' names. I've gone for Joseph as just being less likely to be one of about 5 kids in the class with the same name, while still being a very trad name.
I'm all for giving kids names that will fit their future lives, whether they end up working as a window cleaner or a barrister. All of these names do that job (although personally I prefer something a little more unusual).Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

I actually have same names here in the office, and I don't like it...as for the boys names, the lists are also common names, for me maybe Benjamin is fine.0 -
