If I had 5K in my savings acoount, but -100K in my mortgage, does that mean I would qualify... as I have a -95K balance with them?!
(Hypothetically speaking, as my savings are kept elsewhere)0 -

It's nothing to do with your mortgage, current account or any other accounts. If I had 5K in my savings acoount, but -100K in my mortgage, does that mean I would qualify... as I have a -95K balance with them?!

Just add your Halifax savings balances together. If they exceed £5k, you're in.0 -
I currently have numerous Lloyds Vantage accounts each paying 3.00% AER on £5K.
Do Halifax still give an extra 0.20% interest to qualifying customers? If they do it will be worth opening a Halifax online saver which will also give a 3.00% AER total (for 12 months) and I get the added draw incentive. Ok, so statistically the chances of winning will be low, but it's better than no chance ! I'll just stop using (for now) one on my Vantage accounts and transfer the funds to Halifax.0 -

            why is N.Ireland excluded ?
If you are 18 or over and live in England, Wales or Scotland and have got at least £5,000 in your qualifying Halifax or Bank of Scotland branded savings accounts, then you could be part of our new Halifax Savers Prize Draw0 -

I don't know all the ins and outs, but the Gambling Act doesn't apply to Northern Ireland (only England, Wales and Scotland). There is something in that act that allows competitions to be run, without an element of skill, that aren't considered lotteries or betting. As this doesn't apply in NI, the competition is considered gambling and as such, NI is typically excluded from such competitions (or offered a free entry route).why is N.Ireland excluded ?

But only if you 'register'?
Why aren't qualifying customers automatically entered? :think:0 -

Suggests there's something else you are agreeing to by registering. Maybe antispam246 (post #8) is right.Old_Wrinkly wrote: »But only if you 'register'?

Or maybe it is just so that people opposed to gambling (religion, ex-gamblers, etc) don't have to be involved?0 -
