argiung roaming charges.
morning all,
i have recently got back from the states, before i left i spoke to orange and bought a data bundle and requesting a cheaper calling rate which i paid for!,
at the time i asked the representative to dis enable and data recieveing fucntions of the phone after the bundle had been used, which they agreed, i had my roaming turned off before i left as well,!. i turned it on maybe three times in ten days when necessary for a very brief time,
now i am looking at a bill which orange cant confirm but they are saying is in the region of £1000! for data usage,
can anyone help with advice or their own experiences of how to argue my case on this, i tried my best to make preparations before i left the country to avoid this exact situation happening to come home and find orange wont give me an exact bill until th 1st of october!,
i have been mis advised totally and dont see why i should pay such an amount!,
i would appreciate any advice or help from people who have had similar experiences!,
many thanks

If...i asked the representative to dis enable and data recieveing fucntions of the phone after the bundle had been used, which they agreed...
i have been mis advised totally...- the adviser understood you correctly and agreed to disable the data and
- you can prove this
Complain and demand the record of the phone call to be checked.

Next time never believe in anything the telephone agents tell you, record all important calls and do your own research.0 -

Many thanks, the only issue is how do i prove it?, will it simply turn into a case my word against the company?.0 -
Yes, this is the main problem if they don't have the record. That's why it is important to record all important calls yourself.0

thanks I'll record all forthgoing calls!, have you experienced this or similar yourself?.0

No, I have not. I prefer to lean from others' mistakes, not my own.0

I have never heard on here of a mobile operator automatically disabling data roaming once your bundle has been used outside the EU.
You dont say how long you were in the USA but some data charges take several days to come through so there will always be a lag between useage and account update.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I'm sure that not even possible. Your home network only get the data from the roaming network sent through once every 24 hour, by that time you could have gone well over your bundle.
Even if they had somehow have sent a sim update out to disable data, as you were out of the UK they only have a slight chance of working.0
