Tesco misprices and discussion (Thread 12)

If you email Tesco head office, from their website, about any non-working price check scanners they are interested. They take it up with the store manager, and monitor it to ensure it gets fixed.
This may have been true in the past, but as I posted on another thread, a member of staff from Head Office told me on Wednesday that their policy recently changed:
Because the two in-store scanners in the new store that opened in my town in November have never worked, I contacted Tesco Head Office three weeks ago to complain.
The person who rang me back that day said she would be contacting the store manager to discuss having the scanners repaired.
However, after more than a fortnight nothing had been done, so I sent them another email. I got a call back and the man I spoke to told me they had no plans to repair the scanners as Tesco policy has changed and they are going to de-commission in-store scanners. Therefore rather than repairing the scanners in my store, they are going to have them removed.
Maybe he was talking rubbish, but that's what he said..

Thanks for that. I'm definately going to email head office. The checkers haven't worked in my local Homestore for months now. Funnily enough it's not actually in Tesco's interest for them not to be working as the majority of the items have no price on them so unless you go to ask at the Service Desk you have no idea how much anything costs! Add to that, those few items that are priced are mostly wrong, which you don't find out about until you get to the till. Many times the items are on sale but you just don't know it! On lots of occasions I've just walked out without buying anything as it's impossible to budget or shop. They must lose so much custom. What the staff do all day is anyone's guess, the Christmas paper is still marked at full price yet it was actually scanning at 50p four weeks ago (and was 3 for 2 which wasn't mentioned either), they've got boxes and boxes of it left as no one knows its reduced! I think it's the worst run store in the UK!0

I e-mailed last week about the scanners in my local not working and they said they would contact the branch and ask them to make arrangements for them to be repaired.
I said that I had wondered if they were phasing them out and was told no, that is definitely not the case.If you're not scared, you're not paying attention0 -

Just got paid 50p to take superglue away from T's
Unibond repair extreme, sel said was £4.99 rtc £2.25
Gorilla glue, sel said was £4.99 rtd £2.25
Both scanned at £4.99. Got 2 of each so £19.96, then got £21.96 back from cs.
This was at T*p V*ll*y, N*tts. SA took the sel away though so no-one else will get it in there. He also commented that he was surprised as the Managers in their usually find all the wrong prices - unlucky for us that shop there!
Also scanned lots of the xmas chocs and cakes ect that were left - all still high prices, the xmas cake was still £10.40!!!!!! Wrap was still £1.99, and the chocs I scanned were still full price even though all the stuff is on a sale aisle. would have thought they would have been cheaper by now.
Scanned a few random clipstrip items but no other bargains found0 -
Saw some headphones half price, SEL stated £19.99 down to £9.99, but stated on sel offer valid between 1st November-21st November, scanned it and it was scanning at £19.99, would I get dtd or would they just say the offers finished?Starting comping middle of October 2011: Wins so far: 2 x concert tickets, a year's supply of Tetley Tea / Tetley mug, F+F 5 shirt with satchel bag:j0
