Have a guess what landed on my doormat this morning? yep the 'pack' I specifically cancelled from Charge Right Ltd. I could tell it was from them by the Swansea post-mark. I have not opened it, but I have written on the envelope 'Return to Sender, addressee declined delivery'. I will now take it to the Post Office to ask whether I just give it back to them to deal with, or whether I should actually post it back to Charge Right as Recorded Delivery? Can anyone advise which may be the best action here? I have to bear in mind that I will be charged £50 if it is not returned within 7 days. (Post Office could take weeks to return to sender. Knowing my luck Charge Right will try taking me to small claims court for £50 for not returning it. Any ideas or advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.0

How are they going to enforce the payment of this 'charge' - please tell us you haven't given them your credit or debit card number??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

No, fortunately I did not give out any Credit Card/Debit Card or Bank details. But I can just forsee being bombarded with letters and then threats to take me to Court etc. I am probably being rather melodramatic, however this happened to a friend of mine in very similar circumstances (Mobile Phone Company).0

There is an awful lot about firms like Charge Right here . . . I too was cold called by them - all very nice and helpful - assured me that they had details of my mortgage, that I had been mis-sold it, and that they could/would get me around £4000 back. I think one is always delighted at the thought that they might be right, and that I might get some money back, so I very reluctantly parted with my account details, so that they could take the £199 + VAT, having been assured that I had a 14 Day cooling off period in which I could cancel and get my money back. This was taken from my account by someone called "Younique" some four days later, after the package of forms to fill in had come. To my surprise, I found they were all about PPI . . . I have already had one lot of PPI refunded by LloydsTSB to my total satisfaction, and after some more thought, and a chat with LloydsTSB, it was fairly obvious that I would not have a valid claim, as I had not been mis-sold anything on this occasion.
So far, so good - but then came the problem of getting some sense out of Charge Right - I was within my 14 day cooling off period, so phoned them for details of how to cancel, and to ask if they wanted the pack of claim forms back - which they did. Another department would phone back, when she got off the phone or otherwise became free, to tell me what to do. No call came, so I sent off the forms to Swansea, paying for the letter to be signed for. That was nearly a fortnight ago, and so far I have had no further contact from Charge Right, and no sign of a refund. Needless to say, I am annoyed (mainly with myself !) but hardly surprised . . . It would be interesting to find out who "Younique" are, and ask them for my money back, so that is my next task.
I feel more cheerful after writing this, and hope that my experience adds to the general picture of what is going on.0 -
Update on the above . . . I have just phoned Charge Right - got straight through - spoke to helpful gent who said papers were there, and he would sort everything out . . . . we shall see (I live in hope that I owe them an apology). Of course, I am left wondering why this has not been done already !0

Hi guys, new to this forum so bear with me.
I'd like to give my account of Chargeright Ltd, which unfortunately isn't favourable. Like many people I got cold called in December last year by a girl named 'Katie'. She told me that if I'd had mortgages, loans and credit cards that I could be entitled to all manner of repayments and lead to a repayment figure running into thousands. This sounded great, and been someone who has never exactly been flush with money, it offered a solution to a lot of financial commitments. She told me that their services would cost me a one off fee of £199 +VAT. I told her I'd think about it, to which she replied she'd call again in 2 days. I mulled it over and eventually when she rang I decided to take a punt. Day later I instantly had a bad feeling and rang them up to cancel and claim my money back. I was told (strangely) that I couldn't cancel without the 'pack' been returned to them. To cut a long story short it's now virtually 2 months after the initial call and I still haven't received my refund. They've consistently told a series of lies. For example, returned paperwork not been received, refund cheque lost in the post, refund bank transfer not worked etc etc. I've spoken to the MOJ on a regular basis, and to be honest, they're as much use as a chocolate fireguard. I'm currently waiting for a further promise of a bank transfer. Come tomorrow if it hasn't arrived (which I'm convinced it won't) I'm going to seek legal advice.
IN CASE ANYONE IS THINKING ABOUT USING CHARGERIGHT LTD........DON'T. AND IF YOU THINK YOU'LL GET MUCH BACK UP FROM THE MOJ.......YOU WON'T.0 -

I wouldn't bother. You told them not to send it so it is unsolicited. Therefore you are entitled to treat it as an unconditional gift and dispose of it as you wish.
They are not about to sue you for £50 because the court fee is that much and they would have to travel to a court close to you.
If they keep calling you and harrassing you then you can make a complaint to the Police.
Why are there so many of these con artists around Swansea?0 -
Hi there I've had the same cold calls from chargeright , I originally told them not to call back as I wouldn't be paying the £199. Fee , they called back weeks later and said they would do mortgage claim for free , they convinced me that they could claim £14,000 back from my mortgage sent me out pack and for every lender you claim against they need a cheque for £10 and£1 ,I have told them I want nothing more to do with them and I'm glad I've read this post tonight as I feel armed now with bit more ammunition for next conmen to call0

What a lot of sad stories, i am currently trying to get 3 refunds for a client of mine as he handed over a cool £600 plus vat for thier services, or as it transpires non service. These kind of companies will be around for many years to come as they prey on Greed within the individual. If phoned by these companies ask yourself the following questions.
1. Was i mis-sold my mortgage........the answer is usually no, therefore no claim
2. Was you mis-sold PPI............The answer is usually yes unless it was sold correctly on a monthly premium.
To be duped by such questions, if you have an interest only mortgages we can get all of your payments back is frankly 'Pie in the sky'.
I am a broker and i consider myself 'squeaky clean' if i think you cant afford something i will tell you so, and guess what, most brokers do this. Brokers work for the client and will on the whole get them products that suits the clients needs.
Please be aware guys or those who think they have a claim, be very careful as i know a few colleagues who are in the process of counter sueing the clients who have put these claims in against them, and rightly so, as if the broker has done nothing wrong then why should they take it lying down.
To Conclude
Next time you get cold called......Just hang up its easyI am a Mortgage Advisor. You should note that this site does not check my status as a Mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
