Luxating Patella in cats - operation

I dropped one of my cats off at the vets for an xray this morning as he was limping in a weir day - just had a phone call from the vets saying George has Luxating Patella (both back legs) and needs an op
George is only a year old
His op is tomorrow and he will need to be on cage rest for 6 weeks after that, they can only do one leg at a time so it will be 2x6 week cage rest for the poor boy:(
Has anyone got any experience of this with their own cats?

Sorry to hear this Gettingready - poor wee George.
My wee girl cat damaged her knee when she was 3 months old and again at about 8 months. The vet was worried she'd some something like this and she was on cage rest for about 6 weeks both times but luckily the knee has healed reasonably well although she isn't able to run as fast as a "normal" cat and I have to watch her outside (to try to stop her jumping from heights - pretty impossible!).
The cage rest is difficult. Try to get the biggest cage possible so he's got a little room to move around (have his bed, litter tray etc in). If you can, move him around so he's got company as much as poss (in the lounge in the evenings, your bedroom if poss overnight).
Wishing George all the best for his op today and big hugs for him when he gets home (and you too).
Please let us know how he gets on.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thanks....
Just looking at cages, medium dog cage is £49.99 at Argos

I guess small would be too small and big would be too big?
Does anyone know what size a cage should be? In centimetres ? Width, lenght and hight?
I understand it needs to me small enough for him not to run around but big enough to fit his bed litter box and food/water?
Does anyone know where I can get it cheaper?
Need to have it for tomorrow though...:(0 -
Honestly, get the biggest one possible - I had a large dog one and Mia was tiny at the time.
Do your vets not have one you can borrow?
Mine let me have one for a deposit which I got back when I returned it when she was better.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Just under £30 with £5.95 delivery - same day despatch with 1-2 days delivery, you could try phoning them and see if there's any way of getting quicker (it says next day delivery on their home page but couldn't find how much it was)
Or this one
