Policy excess wouldn't make it worthwhile.

I appreciate that someone has to pay storage/recovery costs... but why should I pay up after they held the dog to ransom and stole her collar??

If you do not pay then they are likely to take you to court, especially if it was a council warden.

I wish there was a cat warden too........

Off topic but cat poo in garden is extremely irritating to a none cat owner.....

Do you know who the owner is? Have you spoken to them?

And damn right I have an axe to grind, it's because I aren't a nodding dog or a puppet with a feeble acceptance of councils who are run like just a !!!!!...and if you work for a council as I suspect then I wouldn't trust you with a tuppeny bus ticket...

Because I find it more likely a dog wandered off than was stolen I work for a council?? That's the problem with silly little posts like yours. Sooner or later you lose all credibility with your fanciful assumptions.

I'm sorry. My job as a council worker precludes me from researching things like this.

No optimist, you are totally wrong - the 'kennel' would simply sell it on for a profit or if it was not young, attractive, and docile they would euthanize it claiming it to be 'the kindest thing to do' as they could not risk their 'reputation' by selling it to be rehomed if anything happened ie it was nervous and fearful so bit or suchlike...that is the fact of the matter. Its outrageous. And more outrageous that a 'vet' would carry out the euthanasia, as I do believe they must sign a declaration when they passed their exams and wish to practice as a vet, to the effect that they are operating in the best interest of the animal..yes, another can of worms....
