  • Good morning.

I'm back to work after a fortnight's holiday - can't say I'm looking forward to it but needs must!

Had an excellent day out yesterday at Chatham Docks (1940's event). One display had a week's (WW2) rations laid out - it was a real eye opener to me as to just how difficult it must have been to provide meals with so little . I think I must use a week's ration of cheese all at once just as cheese on toast.

Lunches are packed and tea tonight will be jacket potatoes with some salad and bits. Washing is out on the line.

The sun is out in Essex but its shining brightly through my grubby patio doors - they must be next on my list for cleaning.

    Morning everyone

Bright with sun trying to break through the clouds here, but air is a bit chilly. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Had a fab weekend, raised loads for our charities, it's the most that the centre has ever raised at one event and everyone had a good weekend, weather was much kinder to us than we expected too - so just 2 more weeks of DH being Chairman and then he passes this on to someone else. Think he's going to feel a bit lost, but there's something else in the pipeline for him so he won't be able to rest for too long! Have a load on the line already as always come home from a weekend away with lots of washing - doesn't look like I'll get any more dry on the line this week though - rain forecast every day after today!! Wasn't very OS when we got back last night had a takeaway as we were all shattered hungry and it was getting late, nice treat though!

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

  • Morning DG, notjustlaura, JackieO, esmf73 and Jannyannie and everyone else to come x
JG Very sorry for your loss, sounds like he was a lovely man x

Well yesterday I put together my pushchair and found room for it in the hallway cupboard (was so worried we wouldn’t have space as it’s a big bulky pushchair)! Now I have room for the crib in my room which is to come in on Saturday (MIL bought me a Lovely second hand one).

Today I have put on the BM (as the boys have run out of bread!), I have to sort out the washing, tidy the house, make a second loaf of bread for me and do the school run. Dinner tonight is beef stroganoff. Might have a fight with the Finances again today, I am going to try and join the grocery challenge starting next week (as I fell off spectacularly!!)

Today I am 24 weeks I have gained 1lb this week (after last weeks panic) and I have gained a total of 3lbs in total, Baby Roo weighs 2lb this week so doing very well :)

Hope everyone has a great day x

Ah Donny-Gal - we used to play Stop the Bus when we were young for just fun but looking back was a good way to do mental arithmetic. Card game - you stop and shout 'stop the bus' when your cards add to the value of 21 - anyone call it something else? Dsis and I played it with my mum.

I had a brother 8 years older, and I could play Pontoon, Solo, Cribbage, 5's & 3's Dominoes by the time I was 8 I am sure he had left home by the time I was 16, and had little time to play once working (still can if I can ever find anyone to play with). Dad was very numeric also, and Mum who wasn't used to come home and ask us how much is 7 yards at 2s11d (old money) and we used to compete to be first with the answer, when I got frustrated one day at not being able to beat them (yes I was always competitive) Dad explained it was easier to times up 3 x 7 then take 7d off. I often wonder why such short cuts are not taught! Must have words with my brother her Grandad to start playing cards with her.

  • Morning All

Looks like it is going to be lovely day today so I am off to strip the beds and get all of the bedding washed.

I have got to go to town today to pick up some bits that I reserved online from the argooose sale, a couple of them are Christmas Pressies and one is an 18th Birthday pressie all comes to less than £20 :D I am well on the way to getting all the Christmas shopping finished by the end of October and hopefully sooner than that :j And because I have been buying as and when I see things I haven't actually touched the penny jar :A it is going towards the new car fund.
Then I have to get in touch with BIL and SIL to organise something for the outlaws 60th wedding anniversary on Christmas Eve

    JackieG My sympathy hun x

Moorhen I hope DS is OK ((((Hugs))))

JulieG I am a bit superstitious about having the pram and crib in the house before the baby is born, couldn't MIL keep it at hers x

Off to get the house a bit tidy and get those beds stripped and in the washer before I go down town.

    Have good days all x
