Lady_K wrote:Thanx I never thought of quidco, how will I know if it will cover my daughter too do I have to give them her address aswell? She would be swapping address in the middle of the covered year too how would that affect it? And would I have to tell them specifically what wants covering as we havent replaced the items yet
My building is with zurich
As far as I can recall, we never had to tell my parent's insurers when I was living away at uni. I think it was just kinda covered (in the same way when they say "you're covered for £500 worth of stuff in your shed", they don't ask where the shed is)
I might be wrong on that, though. Best to read the policy docs.0 -

They will also have made a note of the room that wasn't touched, and any copper worth his pay would make a few enquiries. He may not be able to prove anything but it should ruffle a few feathers.
The officer dealing should be told of the girls intention, and she should be given a flea in her ear regarding fraud, and the possibility of being spoken regarding that if she continues her claim!!
Just one question, how did the offenders get into the house? Was the house itself broken into, or was it just the rooms?
The officer was told on Monday and we havent heard anything back yet. I just don't think they really care with this kind of crime as it happens so much. I also told him about the msn messenger id of my daughters coming online which was set on the laptop to come on auto with no password and could they trace the isp of where its being used but we havent heard anything at all. There are things the police can do but they just dont seem to put much effort into solving these crimes which is why this kind of thing keeps happening and people get away with it coz they know the police just arent going to spend time on this.
The house was broken into not just the rooms, totally completely smashed down the front door down and another 2 rooms aswell as my daughters, her door was smashed in so hard they took the frame and the brickwork out around it, they meant business
Do you think we will hear back from the police at all? the last we heard was he was going to pass it to the computer side about the messenger. He just said well reg the girl intending to false claim that if she claims the insurance will check the crime number anyway and he made no comment about the access to learning fund. To be honest it all came accross like he had dealt with this kind of thing a million times and he was just pacifying us and listeing but nothing was going to happen they just dont put time into things like this there is always somthing biggerThanx

Perhaps you should tip off the insurance company, even anonymously.0

Problem is it was a joint contract he wouldnt let them sign it until there was a 4th person which he found, so they had to agree to live with her and share all bills between all 4.
The landlord is not doing his job. If she (or anyone in the house) has formally informed him of the problems and asked him to resolve them, and he has not done so, then it should be possible for them to move out without paying him any more rent, and without finding another victim to share with 'that girl'. The law governing this kind of situation is complicated so she should get legal advice, but her best move is to write to him (recorded delivery, keeping a copy of the letter) explaining that the behaviour of the other girl is making her life intolerable and preventing her from studying effectively, and therefore unless he takes some kind of action to put things right she will have to move out.0 -

Lady_K wrote:I think the cashback offers are for buildings or both but not contents on thier own. I would have difficulty getting buildings insurance online through quidco as it has to be looked into because of the subsidence and I dont think I'll get cashback on just contents but if anyone knows different please let me know
Zurich on Quidco £80 cashback until end of Jan. I did this for contents only in December with no problems.0 -

She brings back members of this church that all prove to be like her taking over the whole house, eating the food from cupboards and fridge and just treating it like its thier own home. They are inconsiderate, nasty, rude and very !!!!!y people coming round at all hours and making lots of noise. They even bring babies and children round screaming and running all over the house messing with everything including the food and my daughters and friends bikes they go to uni on. I just dont think a student house should have children running around when they are trying to study its not what they expected or pay the rent for. My daughter and her friend there are both student nurses too and have difficult hours she has been brought to tears through lack of sleep through the noise all caused by this girlThanx
