Girl Wants Crime Number To Make False Claim

Daughter was burgled last weekend at her student house and had quite a lot of stuff stolen including her laptop. The house has 4 students living there and only 3 of the rooms were broken into.
The girl whos room wasnt broken into has asked for the crime number so she can try and claim on her insurance and also try claiming something from the access to learning fund if she can. I cant believe that she can just ask like that, she has no feelings at all for the others who have suffered through this emotionally and losing thier stuff and uni work on the laptops etc. my daughter also didnt have insurance too so its a huge thing to us.
Can this girl get away with this? The police know her room wasnt touched

Tell your Daughter where to get off!, My best mate is an insurance claims handler and has told me many funny tales such as the theft of a dogs virginity and remember all claims are registered on a central database so if your Daughter has made a claim, this will of been noted.0

You did not read my post correctly. It is NOT my daughter that is making the claim. There are 4 rooms in the house and only 1 of the rooms wasnt burgled. It is the girl that wasnt burgled that is planning on making a false claim not my daughter.
Also answering a post the way you have just done with that suggestion is not appreciatedThanx

I don't think Lady_K was actually saying that it was her daughter who was going to make a false claim.
What do the other people who live there, think of it? I don't think she should get away with it. Won't it name the people who were actually burgled in the report anyway? Hopefully, this girl will claim and the insurance company will see a copy of the report and she'll be found out.0 -
when I was burgled in a shared house with other students the police when they completed a report wanted to know the items that had been taken.
She won't be able to use the same crime reference number if not detailed I am sure.Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -
I read it that the girl with insurance was going to claim for the others on their behalf....as they all live in the same property. Can you get insurance that just covers your own room in a shared house??? If not..and it covers the property then cant she claim and then replace the stolen items ???I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

Mentaljessie (how appropriate) it was not Lady_K’s daughter, it was her flat mate.
Lady_K, does your daughter like this girl? If she doesn’t she could allow her to go through with the claim and wait until she gets a payment and then shop her to the insurance company and the police. Or threaten to do that if the girl doesn’t hand over all the cash to recompense your daughter for her uninsured loss.:D0 -
I would report this to the university authorities. If the girl needs fund from the Access to Learning Fund, she should apply legitimately. Gaining funds in this way would be fraud and deception, as would claiming falsely from the insurance company.
Some people have no scruples!0 -
No thats what I thought but could she get away with it when trying the access to learning?
The others in the house think it has to be someone this girl knows anyway as she was the only one not touched. It was done while she was away too and she brings so many people in its unbelievable. Shes got 3 boyfriends all sleeping with her on different nights she brings endless groups of friends back plus she had a massive party the other weekend the house was packed and there were fights and alsorts. She just brings too many people in and too many people know who is out when they are out etc and who has what and which rooms people are in. Its a big street and that was the only house burgled.
I just dont think she should get away with claiming when she hasnt lost anythingThanx

Well I thought about that too I was so mad I was going to ring the university myself and tell them to watch out for the application coming in. but I thought well she will prob get into more trouble once its gone through. She doesnt like her no she has caused so much trouble in the house shes a nightmare. She was in a different house last year but no one liked her there so she left and moved in my daughters house unfortunatelyThanx

This girl sounds like all round bad news! Have the other people indicated their suspicions to the police?
I would suggest a move is in order. I had the misfortune to live with a girl like this in my second year. People round and all times of the day and night, loud parties and lots of (Class A) drug consumption. I wish I'd moved at the time!0
