Thanks to Trixxie for this link as I could not find where to create a Quarkstore account. (The disc does not make this clear).

Also thank you to Martin. I am just about to start a Publisher MS course and I am sure it will have things in common with this Quark programme so I can practise at home. At £4.99 (not £3.99) it is great for my student pocket.Thanks!

How do I update to Quark 5.01 please?

I have uploaded Quark 5, created a registration, received my validation code and registered with Quark. It is now on the desktop. However it will not load when I double click on it, instead it says:

‘This version of Quark Xpress is no longer valid. Contact Quark for assistance. (Which I cannot, as when I uploaded this Quark, the page for Technical Assistance would not go through when I pressed enter on several tries).

When I go through the cover disc contents again (in INSTALL), and press on update, I get: (after about 15 minutes wait!):

Welcome to the update for Quark Xpress 5.01
The installation wizard will install the update for QuarkXpress 5.01, Click next to continue.

Then,
Error: Your Quark Xpress application has been updated,
so I press OK.

Then,
The Wizard was interrupted before QuarkExpress could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To install this programme at a later time, please run the installation .

Then
1152:Error Extracting (then it gives the source) to the temporary location.

How do I update to QuarkXpress 5.01 please?

PS I bought the DVD version unknowingly but I have a DVD drive.

I see there's an installation time limit on this one. I got the same QuarkExpress 5 with Computer Shopper in January after previous post but could not get it installed by time limit of 25 January 2007. Does anyone know a way around that please?

Me too, I never received my validation code.

The validation code is printed on the CD below the words QuarkXPress 5.

I'd be really grateful to know if anyone has managed to get the 25 January deadline extended and/or install it.

You should have a validation code emailed to you once you have registered using the registration code you mention. Two separate codes I'm afraid.

Mine never turned up.

The important thing with installing the free Quark in these magazines is that if you get installation difficulties to have them sorted before the installation deadline (of 23 March on this one) otherwise it makes a time consuming problem into an almost impossible one.

One of my e-mails to Quark was eventually answered by techsuppquark@quark.com and they e-mailed me a validation code.
