Would you lovely ladies mind if I joined you?
I've secretly stalked this thread since I found out I was pregnant and I'm now 21+2 weeks, due 07/05/2012 with twins. Looks like I'm bump buddies with lovecrafting and only a few weeks ahead of ginvt but i'm huge!
I've only recently felt brave enough to join as it was all a bit surreal for a while so would someone mind adding me to the list please.
Anyone else spent a small fortune in the sales? I really had planned to be very mse but that seems to go out of the window when I see all the cute baby stuff out there.
I plan to follow jenjades plan for free nappies (or little cost) but i'm also willing to try disposable nappies too if I can find them for cheap enough.0 -

It might be worth readings Martins guide on child savings, I cant post a link as i'm a new user but if you go to savings and junior isa then there's some interesting info there as a start.0 -
Welcome Dashikil. How exciting that you are having twins, bet that was a surprise for you.
I've also spent a fair bit but it is so cute so I'm letting myself offDS1 born June 2000

We are looking at a Junior ISA to maximise the tax benefits. And at young ages, you are unlikley to have to make withdrawls, so you should be able to go with one at a better rate with more restrictions on taking money out.
Martin's Guide is quite helpful as well. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/child-savings-tax-freeMarried 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Welcome, of course you can join in, more the merrier! I've not spent much in the sales, despite trying to find things to buy- we already had most things as i've been spreading the cost out over the past 6 months. I DID spend £40 at Kiddicare yesterday, which arrived by courier today, with a few extra flat sheets, blankets etc as i had a sudden panic about only having fitted sheets and wanted something to put under a blanket.
We are going to use disosibles for the first 3-4 weeks, and then planning to try reusable nappies and wipes. I've sourced second hand (not all used but one owner already) tots bots, and motherease wraps to start with, but not gone too crazy as they may not suit beanies shape, so may end up trying a few types once she arrives.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

It was a massive surprise and i'm equally bricking it and excited at the same time.
I've banned myself from next as the odd £5 here and there adds up.
Do any of you know how long it usually takes for cots and push chairs to be delivered once ordered?0 -

Shouldn't be too long I don't think, but obviously depends on availability etc at time of ordering.
My request for delivery was put in on a Friday and the stuff was supposed to arrive on the Wednesday. I had a lot of problems though, that others haven't.

well. i am still alive, just. i took some paracetamol and had a sleep. it got to the point where i needed some sleep no matter what the midwife said, hubby shouted at me for taking paracetamol but hey i needed to. (btw it is safe to use paracetamol in pregnancy for anyone reading this, i am not allowed because i already take a chemist full of meds and start on projesterone next week)cloudberry45 wrote: »Glad you asked this as I could do with some advice on this too. my kids have a normal savings account that they can withdraw from and deposit into. they dont tend to withdraw but if there is something they really want then we allow them to take the money out, at christmas one of there aunts put 20 into each of there accounts, we allowed them to withdraw half to buy a toy or something, they ended up buying slippers. i think it teaches them the value of money and that it dosent grow on trees.Would you lovely ladies mind if I joined you?

yay a bump buddy. altho with twins you will probably be early, but so will i. do you know what your having yet? im having another (4th) girl
I havent brought anything for the baby, we have a pram and cot already at my mother in laws house and i started knitting the other night for her. i may have a look at the january sales when i feel better and buy a few bits but i really want to get to 24 weeks first so i know they will save her if anything happens (please excuse my negativity, i have been here before so am not counting my chickens just yet )0
