I was reading something about this last night, and they were saying clamping the cord immediately means that what is going through it at that point is lost to the baby, and it is best to wait at least 3 minutes. I haven't got as far as the birth plan yet :o but I think I will say, leave it to start with, and then wait and see how fast the placenta is delivered. I don't mind having the injection if it is taking ages, but I think I'll wait a little bit first.

My ball is almost inflated, ooohh its hard work! At this rate I could have a baby before I finish it. :D

Got the X Factor on in the background, am I the only one who thinks all the stupid 'Wooooo' and 'Yay Wembley' business in the middle of songs makes them sound like prats?

Hi all, good luck BM and to everyone who may be on their way too :-)

Was writing a basic birth plan earlier and am stuck on what to do about delivery of the placenta.....anyone have any advice on this? Do most people have the injection straight away, cut and clamp the cord.....or do you wait for it to finish pulsating then injection cut and clamp....OR deliver it all naturally without injection at all? I really have no idea what I want to do.

At the antenatal workshop we went to yesterday at our hospital, the midwife said that they don't clamp it immediately, but let it do it's thing then clamp it. Birth partner can cut it if they want to, or the midwife will do it. Then they do the injection (or not) and its delivered. Personally I'm going to have the injection.

ok been outbid. thank heavens for that. DH would have gone ape at me :p

Lol, I treated myself to a fairly expensive electrical item yesterday from Ebay! Though I have two birthdays and an Xmas of cash I've been saving which will pay for it. Not telling my other half though, just in case he's had that thought for Xmas! He's very proud of himself about something and I don't know what he's bought. :D

    Good Luck Blue Monkey

Good Luck Seafarers Wife for tomorrow.

I reallllly need to wrap my presents up, want to send them home Tuesday at the latest. My phone hasn't stopped since 4 o clock though, and I've got nothing done.

Got all my newborn clothes washed, they look creased :( don't want to iron them. Not even sure I'll need newborn the way this baby is growing, they apparently only fit up until 10lbs! Stomach feels bruised and sore from all the movements and kicking. I also have an elbow or something sticking out, I have a huge bulge in the middle of my stomach. Nice.
