Oh don't Kira  My cousin was pregnant with her first in the middle of thick January snow, woke up, didn't feel well, phoned the ambulance, it took 40 minutes to get into her street and she'd already had her baby!!

In a way, I'd be happy with waking up and sleeping through my entire labour, but it's a scary thought!

that's what the men are for ;) I use "I'm tired" for everything under the sun. Even when I'm just being lazy. I'm currently trying to get my OH out of the house for a night out so I can lay back on the couch, watch the Great British Bake Off and eat 4 Cupcakes all to myself. I will probably be sick...

my other half doesnt live with me. when he comes over we cuddle up and watch tv etc so the cleaning is down to me... and it is not happening. i have not reach unhygience ... yet
:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heart :( Proven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j

I wish mines didn't live here at times, he creates more mess than he solves. You work though, so it's understandable you're knackered. I don't do much all day, except post on here and eat cakes apparently

I do the majority of housework anyway, he mops the floors twice a week and tries hard not to pee on the floor.

Oh crap! This could be an interesting winter ladies. Was just reading a news article online, which said we should expect a freezing winter, similar or worse to last year! Starting as early as October, and all the way through into Dec/Jan, with temps below zero, and lots of ice and snow.

Me thinks i might have to find some "how to deliver your baby at home by yourselves with no medical assistance" guides for DH to read! Last year our road was inpassable by vehicle due to snow and black ice, as the council wouldnt grit it as we dont have a school, bus route or Old peoples home on it! F all chance of a midwife making it to us by car, and even less of DH managing to drive me the 28 miles to the hospital! Just checking out the grit and salt providers online to see if i can get DH to stock up on some early to help us out of the drive and down the road!

Yes I've heard this too from several different sources. Thankfully we're not in the remote village we were in last December (almost got snowed in for Christmas but escaped on Christmas Eve) however I certainly won't be going anywhere if the roads are that bad! Hopefully OH will get stranded at home this time instead of halfway home from Edinburgh!

Oh no the M8 Chaos? My dad was 3 miles from home and it took him 13 hours!! I would have got out left the car and walked home personally. That day was horrific. Thankfully I was tucked up on the couch, watching the chaos unfold on tv.

Eeeek, that doesn't sound good! We're only about 15 mins from the hospital but the bit of Nottingham we live in is really hilly and it's the first bit where they start closing roads when it gets icey! As long as we can get off our street then we'll be ok, it'll just mean going the long way round to get to hospital... Might have to get some stocks of cat litter in to use as grit!

No - we live south of Birmingham - he got to Birmingham by train then to Worcester but there were no trains running from there. He stopped in a hotel for a night then managed to bribe a taxi driver to bring him the last 40 miles to the village. However as all roads in/out of the village were very steep he had to walk the last 3 miles home. Never want to worry like that ever again!

Tesco were selling 1Kg bags of salt for 18p each the other day so I bought several (easy to keep a bag or two in the car too in case you get stuck) - will buy more if I see it again!

It's ridiculous that the powers that be in this country can't sort these things out. I realise they're not God and can't stop snow or bad weather, but other countries seem to manage, with weather worse than ours! Although I do laugh in London where it's one inch of snow and all hell breaks loose, must be because they aren't used to it :p
