    Hello all.
Just been lurking for a couple of weeks as nothing too exciting to report.
Wanted to pop on tonight though to say a big good luck to Kandboys for tomorrow :) hope all goes well!
I'm now officially ready to go on Friday, bags all double and triple checked and everything sorted :) bit annoyed that DH's boss has given DH a 5pm-11pm shift tomorrow instead of the usual 10am-3pm shift. Kinda ruins the early night and take-away we had planned :(
    Oh well, exciting stuff!
Looking forward to lots of pics Kandboys! :)
  • Good luck KandBoys!!!! :)

I get more heartburn these days too (am 33 weeks). No real pattern, seem to get it after I eat anything, though luckily it's quite mild and only lasts a couple of mins.

Starting to brick it at how unprepared we are. No clothes, no nappies, nothing. Going to a big Mothercare today and have £90 in vouchers so should feel a bit better after a spend-up today.

Poor OH had to leave at 5am today hence why I'm awake... Annoyingly we left the heating on (low) all night - this new place we're in has a prepayment meter for gas and electric so we've been trying to be good so a) we only use what we need and b) can get a feel for how much it's going to cost. Dread to think how much we zapped overnight!!!!

  • Good luck for today Karen :D I am soooooo jealous, wish it was my turn!

Congrats SVSandy, sorry to hear you had such a traumatic time. Have you and your OH been offered any counselling?

Can I ask any ladies who are on team yellow or have had babies before and been team yellow, did you have a feeling that your baby was a boy or girl?

I am convinced that we are having a boy, from before even getting pg I daid to OH that if we fell pg that month it would be a boy. OH wants a girl, so I hope he gets what he wants as I am not bothered either way. Like Lirin I keep dreaming of girls though and I have an irrational phobia that baby will be a hermaphrodite. I worked with a girl years ago who had a hermaphrodite baby and it has just stuck in my head.

Got back from consultant to an email that I don't think I'm taking up wrong, but it comes across as a bit snippy, really, and it's left me a bit confused, as it's in response to something general? Been thinking all afternoon, and haven't really been talked to. Haven't really felt welcome, so kept myself busy.
Was wondering about tomorrow and physio, but will be taking DH's advice, I think. He says to say nothing, wait and see if anything is said, or if pay has been docked when my payslip comes in. Makes sense- more ammo to complain with.
I know I'm in the mood to complain to HR now, but will see if anything is said tomorrow first.

Just very confused, as everything was reasonably fine until Tuesday and being asked if I was taking a half-day unpaid for physio! Why can't they read their own maternity policy??:mad:

Lirin, if it gets too much for you and is stressing you out you could go off sick? Have any of your male colleagues ever had paid time off for physio appointments? If so then you are being discriminated against, actually you are still being discriminated against just by the way they are treating you. I would speak to your HR department, or speak to your manager directly and tell him how you feel and that you will be contacting HR. How many weeks have you got left? Is it 2?

Yeah, WW, 9 days left.... after today. It's just stressful- I know they have to pay me for antenatal appointments, can't ask to be taken unpaid, etc, etc, but as my work seems to know so little about pregnancy I'm anticipating difficulty when I actually get paid.
I can put up with getting ignored, and I did get an apology for the snippy email- I think, subsequent emails left me extremely confused! It's more the fact that I'm going to have to watch my pay like a hawk in the first few weeks of maternity to ensure I am being paid, and argue with them if I'm not- I can see it happening.
I decided I'll wait and see what happens in the hours today before I go to physio- and that should determine whether HR is necessary.

Lirin that must be so frustrating for you... I know it's not the same but where OH works they've just had a new supervisor who clashes with OH and it's not good, they have tried to blame him for breaking something so bought in a company to 'prove' he broke it and they basically said that the state it was in they were surprised it had worked at all. They also try to get him to use unsafe equipment or things that aren't working properly, once recently he said no, so someone else took it out and it broke completely (and expensively) ;)

Trouble is the rest of them all just use the dodgy equipment and OH gets the blame for saying 'No it isn't safe' because they have a duty to check things over... Especially as it is dangerous large machines, which are used by busy roads and where children may be present!

I have been asked to have my next MW check with a GP cos my MW is busy all month, which is fine ;) i've made an appointment with the nice doctor who thinks pregnancy is scary :) because I know if I ask him to refer me to check the size of this baby he probably will!

Owww, so sick of heartburn today! I've tried Gaviscon, milk, refreshers, cold water, nothing works for more than a minute or so. :(

I have been prescribed Ranitidine- i have really bad heartburn and acid reflux during pregnancy. Might be worth asking your gp or midwife about it-if things don't improve.

I complained about feeling restless, exhausted and not being able to sleep because of aching and heartburn etc-well i am glad to say since i have been taking the ranitidine, along with iron tablets (as i found out i was anaemic)-i have felt a lot better! I have been able to sleep better, and no longer feel so irritable and tired :)

I have had yet another appointment with my consultant, and had my 5th scan this pregnancy. They still reckon baby is a bit too small-but i am annoyed with all the charts and the guidelines. They are sending me back for another growth scan in 4 weeks time, which will make it 6 all together. I am not worried about the baby-i know baby is moving well, everything is looking well on the scans and my bump has grown a lot over the past few weeks. They just seem to enjoy worrying me and making me go back all the time.

I am going to refuse an induction this time-they had booked me in for my first pregnancy 'just in case' as i am on meds for my high bp, but in the end my son decided to come early and i was fine. So my midwife is supporting me-and telling me to refuse it unless it really is needed (if i go over or baby is not well etc)

I feel more in control this time around-i won't be pressurised into doing anything i am not comfortable with.

    Hope everyone is well. x

Hi Ladies, I think I'm going to start posting on here a bit more as the 12-24 week thread is very quiet at the minute. Some of you may know my story but for those that don't.......I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow and have already had 4 scans! Had a scare early on with bad pain and bleeding then got the downs screening result back (quad test I think, bloods and NT aswell as other stuff) and we were 1 in 10 risk!!! We opted to have the CVS test done (samples taken from the placenta )and were one of the lucky 9 as all was fine. Then had another scan to check baby due to the miscarriage risk associated with the CVS (only 1-2% but still worrying!). So here we are, hopefully things will be a bit smoother and less worrying from now on although I do have another extra scan (internal) at 16 weeks as I had some treatment 18 months ago following an abnormal smear result and they want to check my cervix...lucky me!!!

Congrats to SVsandy, gorgeous little girl and I love her name. Sorry to hear you had such a horrible experience but glad you were well looked after and are recovering well now.

Thanks to whoever posted about the £10 mamas and papas voucher the other day. mine was emailed to me yesterday so i'll be taking it when I go shopping at the weekend.
