I'm still in bed, really should think about moving soon, OH finishes work at 3  I've done nothing but laze around for his whole shift.
Toniq it really depends on your space, also cost. The over the cot ones are cheaper and take up less room, you can also get the changers that clip onto the chests of drawers. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Just having OH as it's a section but with my 2 previous it's always been just us 2. My DH is of the opinion that if you weren't there at the conception or are not a medical professional you shouldn't be at the birth :rotfl:! Each to their own though. My sister in law is a trainee midwife and she says it really upsets her when the mums take over and the partner feels like a spare part at their own child's birth
Yeah, my OH is a bit worried that my mam will take over, but she has been at both my sister's labours and they assure me she didn't do that. I've said to OH that he is my birth partner and my mam is just along for the ride. I am relying on him to get me through the labour and birth, he is a calm person and can talk me out of a panic.
Toniq, I am also an older mam, so I know where you are coming from with all the bending and kneeling. I have an open plan lounge/dining room so have room for a changing table downstairs. I bought one from Ikea for about £60, it is basic and I bought storage boxes to go on the shelves and a changing mat to go on top, probably cost me £80 all in. Upstairs I will probably keep a changing mat next to my bed and use that. If I am struggling though I will get a cot top changer.
This is the one I got :

Well rest time over, so I suppose I'll get on with the rest of the housework0 -
Afternoon all
Good luck SvSandy, hope things get moving for you!
I've just got home from town, had to run a couple of errands (including paying a cheque into the bank that I'd got from the DVLA in my maiden name - I have an account with Santander, they said there was no way I could pay it in now that my name's changed, I'd have to get the cheque reissued in my married name, went into Halifax where they accepted it no problems :rotfl:). Anyway, I also nipped into M&S as I found a giftcard that we'd been given as a wedding present back in January that we'd not got round to spending so I bought a pack of 3 sleepsuits, the little hat and scratch mitts with the bear on that Gilly(?) posted a link to the other day, and a cute all-in-one outfit in a bigger size so we've got something for baby to grow in to! When I'm on the laptop instead of my phone, I'll post links. All in all only cost £3 after using the giftcard so was happy with that!
Edit: this is what I bought today

Can't find the other pack I bought on the website but it was a pack of three sleepsuits, multi-coloured, one stripy, one with polkadots and a plain one.
I need to start working on my nappy stockpile... I want to go down the reusables route but will probably use disposables for the first couple of weeks. I think we've currently got 3 packs of pampers size 1 or 2 and a pack of huggies size 1 so think I need to get a few more! Must dig out those coupons...
Hope everyone's having a good day!
Oh and I'm also happy as OH has offered to get me Domino's tonight!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -

Dont know if its any use to anyone - I have a 20% voucher for use in toys r us / babies r us which I have no use for - I can forward the email to anyone if they think it would be any use to them - its only valid for the rest of today and for tomorrow. Can either print the voucher off and go to the store or can use online. Not sure if it can be used more than once so not sure if I can send this to more than 1 person (it looks like a generic barcode so probably can?):T baby boy born 01/01/2012 my New Years Day Boy

I agree with him! The signs at the hospital say "Max 2 birthing partners only" and you're not allowed to switch. Going to use that so that MIL is nowhere near, and she will end up doing my head in! She is a constant barrage of questions, and there is no way I'm having that during labour."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Im having my OH and NO ONE else at the hospital, no matter how much my mother and sister want to be there, (who would annoy me to absolute distraction) and as for my MIL, although a very nice lady, well, I don't want her seeing those bits of me!!!!!! OH has got a job to do as my birthing partner, I've done all the rest, so he best do it well0

How's it all going Laura? Not sure I will be able to get to those classes as Poole is a fair way from here
The classes have already started!! Last one on Thursday. Apparently they don't give a tour of the hospital anymore which i was abit annoyed about as i would off liked to know where i'd be going!
Joined an NCT yoga course - need to get a yoga mat tomorrow!0 -
I think I'm just going to have my OH as my birthing partner. My parents live an hour away, although I'm sure my mum would drive up if I asked her. And MIL is NOT an option! Lovely lady but all she'd do is flap about the place being no help whatsoever! Hopefully OH will be up to the job! He was asking me about my birth plan the other day, saying "it says in my book I should know what you want" so I think he's getting into it...:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0
