Jenjade, that is really not on! Your doctor has said you need to be sitting and resting more. Your boss is not a qualified medical professional so why does she think she can disregard the medical advice your doctor has given you?!? Oh, I am so mad on your behalf, grrrrrr
I have had a busy day today and am paying for it now, lolmy friends have been travelling for the last year in the middle east and are going off for another year around Europe tomorrow so we went to see them today for a catch up and to wish them good luck for their next adventure. They live on a houseboat (so cool
) and I managed to smack me head on the door frame as we were leaving! It was lovely to see them both though and I can't wait to read the first email installment of their travels
After that we went shopping to wrexham to look for a dress for me to wear next Wednesday but I didn't find anythingmost of the shops didn't have maternity ranges but I did see a nice floaty chiffon dress. However, when I tried it on my bump made it indecently short!!! If I don't manage to find something I do have a lovely dress to wear but I wanted to get something new really...
We went into our local town for a meal on the way home and I am stuffed now. My Oh is joking that I look like a cartoon snake as I am lay on the sofa with a big bump in my middle, just like the snakes you see in cartoons! Thanks for that! Lol
Got the last couple of things for my hospital bag so am all set to go nowfor anyone looking for nighties, they have knee length ones in primarni that have buttons down the front so would be good for breastfeeding. I think they were only £4.50 so I got 2
Hope everyone is enjoying their eveningxxx

Hey all, somehow made it though today however it was very challlanging! Boss called me in for a chat... She is annoyed that I e mail her last week updating her on my medical conditions (all pregnancy related) and asking if she could send the referal we filled out 16th Aug as soon as possible as the pain I am suffering is increasing and I need to be sat down more of the day. Anyway in our chat she wrote down all the time I spend standing and sitting. I work 6 hours a day and spend 3 and a half hours solid standing. She said this is not much time at all. I said it isn't but being pregnant and with my varicous veins and back pain it is to much. Best to see occ health and let them decide! Anyway I now have a meeting with her and her manager on Thursday!! Tempted top avoid the crap and get signed off but half of me wants to go to the meeting and let them stictch themselves up!!! I am so cross
That's disgusting. The day I told my employer I was pregnant with my first son, they put a chair behind my desk, and I was only 10 weeks! They did regular health and safety reviews, and immediately stopped me from even taking a bag of rubbish down!
If I were you, I would get yourself signed off for your baby's sake, and your own. Too much stress isn't good. And if it's making your varicose veins worse that's not good.
What I would do, though, is when you get signed off, write a letter to your HR department stating that you have been signed off work with X, Y and Z due to your line manager's failure to adhere to health and safety laws.
Tell them you expect to be on full pay until the date xx/xx when you wish your maternity pay to commence.
If they refuse, just show them your e-mail correspondence with your manager. Most companies will go quite far to keep you quiet about them breaking the law.
Make sure, however, that they conduct a full investigation so that no other woman has to deal with this!0 -

Just point out that because your work have not complied with health and safety law, that you feel it necessary.
If it ever did go to disciplinary, you can prove (e-mails etc) that you tried to alter your working conditions based on doctors orders, but as they didn't comply, you felt it was safer for you & bump to be signed off completely0 -
Hi JenJade,
According to my OH the key phrase to use if i you are worried is: they failed to make reasonable adjustments.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

I agree with this, you should definitely be writing a letter of complaint to your HR department, your boss sounds like a right b***h! I am so angry for you!
My manager couldnt do enough for me when I told her I was pregnant. I work in a shop and she immediately had a chair put behind the till for me, was adament I shouldnt go near any of the deliveries, and wouldnt even let me hoover the shop at the end of the day (who on earth she thinks does my hooovering at home is beyond me :rotfl:). I eventually got signed off for 4 weeks, but even when I went back she couldnt do enough.
This is how all managers should be! I definitely would put in a complaint.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
