I've been overwhelmed by the number of congratulations I've received. We're just hoping its third time lucky

Ahhhh - this is just the best news - and the reason I have been reading the less than 12 weeks thread since moving up!!!!
Congrats and sticky vibes for you, must admit - just had a few tears myself!! x x x xMarried the Man of my dreams 30/08/2008Baby No.1 arrived 04/04/2012, gorgeous little girl after 4 years of fertility issues!!:j:T0 -

Quick question that i cannot find in my maternity policy at work (but just want an idea please?) I've opted to take maternity on my due date (12th April) and plan to finish off the remainder of my annual leave before I go on maternity (I have just over 3 weeks to take before i go) - which means i will be off at some point in March. If my baby is born before the 12th april, does that mean my maternity automatically starts for the day my baby is born? Or does the maternity still start from the 12th April as I originally stated? Confused!?!Sealed Pot Challenge Member #8810 -
Good question Goppers, I'd be interested to know that too as our maternity policy is very short and sweet and doesn't cover AL at all!
Poor DH, I feel terrible, I have been having really vivid nightmares and dreams recently, woke up at 6am and was utterly convinced my waters had broken to the extent that I leaped out of bed (I think little girl turned in the night so it all felt strange anyway) and woke DH up in my sleepy confusion, poor man was so panicked, I just wish I could get a more restful sleep for my overactive imagination!0 -
Thanks 4nnabella. Tried milk. Eventually just sat downstairs until 4:30am so DH could get some sleep. Will go out and stock up today. Didn't realise how bad it can get!
Hope you managed to get back to sleep.
Thanks... I did eventually but I think it was around 5.45. And then OH's alarm went off an hour later... I dozed a bit while he was out of the room but then when he was back getting dressed he kept talking to me, assuming I was as wide awake as he was! Although to be fair he didn't know I'd been awake for so long, so can't really hold it against him.
Am now contemplating whether to try and get another hour or so sleep, or get up and have breakfast and then sleep later. I've got a friend coming round with her four-month old at about 1pm so need to tidy up a teeny bit, but a quick whizz round with the vacuum will suffice... So if I get up now and do that then I could possibly squeeze a nap in before she comes over... Decisions, decisions! :rotfl:
Pip was making me most uncomfortable in the night as well! When I was awake at 4am it had its bum right over on my left side and it just kept pushing up into my ribs! It probably didn't help that I was sat up, after a while I tried lying on my right side to see if it moved and the pressure went from my ribs but for a couple of minutes I had my hand on its bum, practically pushing it back in! :rotfl: My bump looked very odd too, all lop-sided and bulging out to the left!
Right, I think I'm going to get up... The hunger is outweighing the tiredness...:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -

Oh dear, Poor you.:(. Sympathies big time from me. I've had some horrible long nights of acid reflux (usually when i try and have pizza tbh!). I now keep a bottle of gaviscon (super size) down the side of my bed, which i just sip from, not even with a spoon!!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I've just got my son up for school and he's eating croissants and drinking tea and I have GTT this morning so can't touch a thing. Tummy has been rumbling all night and I'm absolutely starving. Baby is kicking me in protest at it's enforced starvation and I'm like a woman possessed trying not to look at his croissants!!!
Anybody any idea what's involved in a GTT? And more to the point, when can I eat?
xxx
It does depend on what test they are doing, there seem to be a few versions. My one was 12 hour fast, special revolting drinking after the 12 hours, then blood test an hour later. As soon as the blood test was done, i could eat. I think some people have a retest after an hour or two. Best plan is to just take something with you to the test, so you can eat as soon as you get the OK!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

This is exactly what I'm doing! I'm currently *technically* on holiday with mat leave due to start 22nd Jan (my EDD). As far as I understand it, if baby comes early then mat leave then has to start the day after baby's arrival. I'm therefore hoping that Pip stays in until at least the end of this week, as I can carry over a maximum of five days holiday to the next holiday year, but if I have any more than that left over then I'll lose them.
Hope that helps! Might be worth checking with your HR department to be sure, as it might be different.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Morning everyone, I seem to be one of the few that had a good night, aside from the essential toilet breaks. Did have some weird dreams though and just before I woke up I had gone to church with my mum wrapped in a duvet because I had forgotten to put a top on and was naked from the waist up!
41 weeks today. Had a bit of back pain when I went to bed and was hoping that was a sign of something but woke up with nothing so I guess I'd just strained a bit waddling around yesterday. Huge hugs to Kira for being even further past your due date, I'm going crazy too if it helps and everyone is telling me I've made her lovely and comfy but those words are a distant memory for me!
Goppers - I may be wrong but I thought you had to take your maternity leave from when the baby arrives if it turns up early. I have no idea how that works with annual leave though, perhaps it would depend on where you are in the holiday year but I would have thought they'd have to let you carry it over or pay you for it otherwise. Even if that isn't usual policy they can't disadvantage you and make you lose holiday because you are pg. Your mat leave/SMP will start on the day that you tell the company you want to commence, UNLESS a) your baby arrives early, in which case it starts from the day after the baby arrives, or b) you are signed of from work for pregnancy related reasons within 4 weeks of the birth, again in which case it starts from when you are signed off.
Tis unfortunate that you cant slip the date of your m/l if your baby doest arrive on time!! I've just wasted 2 weeks of my crappy 6 weeks @90% on absolutely nothing. Glad i decided to start it late on (3 days before EDD) or i would be super gutted!
Does that help?Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Nearly 35 weeks here and am not getting any sleep. Everthing hurts. Shoulders, hips, kness, I can't get comfortable, no matter how may pillows I use (I am a tummy sleeper).
Got up to pee at 2am and didn't go back to sleep until 6am, alarm went off at 7:15 to take my son to school. I am exhausted.
I think I will get more sleep when the baby arrives :rotfl:0
